KFAN/Barreiro saying they will have some info. on today's show

Nanne on KFAN

What did Nanne have to say?

He scolded the media, including Gaard, that they have been too gullible and too impatient in their reporting. He said Brackin had called him 20 times in the last few days asking him for a tip. He did not give him anything. He said that a conclusion should be coming in a week or so.After all some teams still have games to play. He thinks that the process is still moving along and he thinks plenty of good coaches do indeed have interest.

Glad Leach is Gone

"Bull*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!]

"While there are still a number of loyal Leach fans in Lubbock, Texas Tech does not wish it had Leach back. "

Howsthat working out for them?

These tipsters don't know diddly. We've known all along that the consultants contact the prospective coaches or their agents and plant a seed and determine if there is any interest. This provides the "U" and the prospect the opportunity to truthfully say "I have never been contacted by the U of M."

This way no college is turned down and no coach is passed over. There will only be a "turn down" if there is real interest and negotiations break down. Even this is highly doubtful, since the talks via the consultants will probably include parameters of a financial package.

A most certainly no one outside of Maturi and Bruininks and one or two personal confidants (like Dungy) knows the names. They aren't posted on his white board.

We've had a handful or more people "decline" a job that has never been offered. Let's all calm down and understand that has things under control. He'll make a decision work out a deal and then announce the last stupid decision under his tenure as AD.

I think people need to keep in mind that Barreiro isn't really a journalist or media member. He's basically morphed into a DJ. It would be like getting your sports information from the KQ morning show. It's all about entertainment, a bit.

Whoever said that there a some "loyal" fans that still want Leach back, but Texas Tech does not... that statement couldn't be further from the truth. Unless you mean "Texas Tech" refers to 2 ppl... the AD and the Pres. And yeah i'm sure the AD will be there much longer if they keep losing.

Trust me, I know lots of people that went to/go to Texas Tech. There is much more than just "loyal" fans that want Leach back.

Doogie, I appreciate you posting on here. I don't always agree with everything you say or write, but it's still good to have you here.

With that said, I don't understand why you always bring up the gopherholers hiding behind a moniker thing. Your job is one that makes you a public figure. It would be stupid for you to not indicate who you are on here. Stating who we are doesn't do any good. What's the difference if you know who I am or not? I'm not part of the media, and don't work for the university. You knowing who I or anyone else is doesn't change anything.

I like to hide behind the word "private" or "dispicable me". God help me if I were to reveal myself and some wackjob send me a an awful email or pipe bomb. There is only one me with my name. I really want to keep it too myself, the name, you know. It is just sooo, delicious.

Leach

I work in Texas and work with parents of Texas Tech students and when the Gopher job opened up.... they said if we could get Leach it would be an "instant success ".They believe he has learned from his mistakes and will not repete the problems he had at Tech.

Wow. That's really great.

What did these parents say when he filed his latest lawsuit last week?

Bull*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#.

While there are still a number of loyal Leach fans in Lubbock, Texas Tech does not wish it had Leach back.

I have to disagree with you TX, at least from the fan base I talk to. The administration may not want Leach back but the fans HATE Tubberville and would love to have Leach back. I'm not saying he is right for the Gophers, but I think the vast majority of Tech fans would take him back in a heartbeat. At least the ones I talk to would.

Probably that he felt he had a case to file a lawsuit and challenge his termination?

He is looking for a settlement ($).
And if the higher courts uphold the ruling by the lower courts that that the University doesn't have immunity in the case, it is likely he gets a sizeable settlement.

Probably that he felt he had a case to file a lawsuit and challenge his termination?

Actually, his latest lawsuit was against ESPN and Craig James's PR firm for slander and libel, but thanks for playing.

Look, if you want to make an argument for Leach as coach. Have at it. There are only about 10-15 threads on the same topic. Just don't make stuff up like Texas Tech wishes it had Leach back.

Texas Tech does NOT wish they had leach back
Texas Tech fans DO wish they had leach back

You are correct that Leach still has many fans. Not sure if I would say it's a vast majority, but definitely those who like Leach are very vocal.

Dude..... not making it up. After speaking with quite a few students /parents they would "love" to have Leach back. Not saying they speak for the whole University, but just repeating what I have heard firsthand. Barriero started the "Shouldn't we at leat look at Leach" topic on his show . So it is relevant to this thread.

There is actually a pretty big chunk of Texas Tech fans who still support Mike Leach. Most of them have moved on because they have no other choice, but Mike Leach is extremely popular in Lubbock to this day. If you don't believe, just google recent artictles about Mike Leach and read the comments section by Tech fans. Yeah, some of them support Adam James and the athletic department, but that is not the majority of opinions.

So I think it is a pretty easy inference that if they speak out against the way and reasons Tech fired Mike Leach and they haven't finished under .500 in conference play since Leach's first season (3-5 this year), that there is a sizeable portion of the Tech fanbase that want's Leach back.

Its definitely not a scientific survey, just talking to the people I work with and go to church with. I've found the younger fans are especially supportive of Leach and impatient with Tubberville. The more traditional fans tend to side with the admin. Having said that I agree with a number of posters who feel that it is somewhat pointless talking about it because Maturi will never hire him. I think he'd be a lot of fun, but it really doesn't matter since he is most likely not in the running.

First time I've ever agreed with Bari-A-hole

He scolded the media, including Gaard, that they have been too gullible and too impatient in their reporting. He said Brackin had called him 20 times in the last few days asking him for a tip. I heard this too. I think Bari-A-hole and his bobo were taken aback that Lou kind of slapped them down. It was pretty hilarious. Usually Lou is a gadfly, but props to him for representing the U (although I wouldn't put it past Nanne to leak the name of some guy he's pimping, like Trestman perhaps).

The one thing I had to agree with Dan B. on is this: for argument's sake, say all the A list candidates have blown us off, and even a lot of the B list candidates too. At some point you have to draw a line and say "if none of the guys above this line want the job, let's bring Leach in for an interview.". Yeah, he will be high maintenance for the next administration, and he could even be a lawsuit waiting to happen. But the dude can flat out coach. Sort of like having an insane girlfriend. You can put up with a lot if she's totally hot and can take the chrome off a bumper hitch. Beats taking a flyer on an OC who could be the second coming of Les Steckel.

I don't have to do any Google searches, since I live and work with people who think Mike Leach invented the forward pass, the spread offense, going for it on fourth down, etc.. In fact, when Tuberville chose to punt on fourth down at midfield against Houston on Saturday, the lady sitting two rows behind me yelled, "Leach would have gone for it!" to much laughter and jeers in my section--and Tech was winning the game.

I simply pointed out to the previous poster that Texas Tech does not want Leach back. Many fans do; many others have moved on.
