Yes better now than later, but you can't guarantee every team will be lucky enough to have this happen before the season. What if this continues to happen during the season? Currently there is only time allotted for a team to make up 1 or 2 games at the end of the season, what if they have to make up 3 or 4? What happens if a different mini-outbreak happens on one team the week of a makeup game? How long can you keep delaying games?Better now than later. They'll miss practice for likely a week, maybe two, and be back at it. These are the things that are going to happen and have been planned and accounted for
Which likely means teams will finish with different number of games played this year.Yes better now than later, but you can't guarantee every team will be lucky enough to have this happen before the season. What's wrong with canceling a game or two? A team plays 9 games instead of 10, or 8 instead of 9? How do we know that things won't look a lot different in 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 10 weeks?Yes better now than later, but you can't guarantee every team will be lucky enough to have this happen before the season. Nothing is wrong with it, but what happens if that game is supposed to be a tie-breaker to determine division champ? That game needs to be played right? Do you then have to delay the conference championship game last minute? What if it happens for the conference championship? What's wrong with canceling a game or two? Play ball!
If it were up to coaches/AD's yes. The University Presidents will pull the plug at some point. At least in the ACC.Admitting defeat on fall football, is like admitting they’re going to lose the election.
If you want to get right down to the psychological nuts and bolts of it ... that’s why they’ll refuse, no matter the cost.
It's not that complicated, howie. Tell me that you know, unequivocally, with supporting data, that these players will be infinitely more safe with almost no positive tests by NOT playing than they would be by playing. If you can do that, I'll certainly concede that punting the entire season was the right choice.Play ball!

That by NOT playing football, they will do all of the other things they are supposed to do, proper protocols and procedures and best practices, avoid parties and all other group activities, et al. That there won't be increased drug and alcohol use, significantly increased risk of suicidal thoughts, increased likelihood of falling into other bad habits with so much idle time for this age demographic.
I mean, if this is such a no-brainer decision, you should be able to provide a mountain of irrefutable evidence.

So you're saying all the unknown health risks supersedes a healthy life by playing a little game of football this fall?Play ball!
I took his remark as sarcastic but who knows. So you're saying all the unknown health risks supersedes a healthy life by playing a little game of football this fall?

I think your sarcasm meter is broken. Or mine is.So you're saying all the unknown health risks supersedes a healthy life by playing a little game of football this fall?
Oh my gosh- I never thought of that. What if 5 players got injured and couldn’t play in a game?Yes better now than later, but you can't guarantee every team will be lucky enough to have this happen before the season. Ya, those sprained knees and separated shoulders are so contagious. I don't know what they would do, but maybe some jackass who thinks it's at all analogous would know how they'd handle it..Oh my gosh- I never thought of that. What if 5 players got injured and couldn’t play in a game?
I’m sure there’s a jackass who think the Oklahoma O-Line is spending their free time volunteering at the Norman nursing home.Ya, those sprained knees and separated shoulders are so contagious. Boys and girls, what we've learned here is that the only place these fine young men can acquire this virus is on the field of competitive battle.I’m sure there’s a jackass who think the Oklahoma O-Line is spending their free time volunteering at the Norman nursing home.
Have you ever heard of an entire position group all getting injured suddenly? Have you ever seen a team have to deal with that on short notice? I don't think so.Oh my gosh- I never thought of that. What if 5 players got injured and couldn’t play in a game?
You're right. Injuries can last weeks, or the entire season or an entire career. Testing positive will keep you out of practice for a couple of days, or a week or so, until you clear protocol.Have you ever heard of an entire position group all getting injured suddenly? Like I tried to point out, it's not the length of time the players are out, it's the quantity of players out in such a short period of time. You're right. Not only on the field- remember they are already practicing 20+ hours per week. The only way they can get Corona is by playing a 3 hour game vs an opponent.Boys and girls, what we've learned here is that the only place these fine young men can acquire this virus is on the field of competitive battle.
Then why are they allowed to practice? And why are they planning for a delayed start in January? There’s going to be that one, or two, or 5 kids that are f’ed up for life from going ahead with college football. Give it some time. Someone will die.
