[Kersey] Lincoln Riley won't say which position group it is, but says he had one group essentially wiped out -- all but one -- by a COVID test

^^^ because the world isn't binary, you liar.

There is not such thing of "if you're letting us have a little bit, that proves you have to let us have the whole thing!"

The crux the problem is that many Covid positive players have no and will have no symptoms and if they are "essential" players some coaches will still send them home for at least 10 days and some coaches will let them play and suspend all testing for a week thereby getting an edge.

Arguably the most idiotic post on this subject in months. And that's saying a lot. Kudos, dude.

One nice thing about when covid eventually becomes a back burner issue, and we actually start talking about sports again .... is that the sewer trolls like Ogee -- who don't care about, and don't post about Gopher sports -- will slither back into the OTB sewer.

Pot, meet kettle.
Seriously, dude. The notion that a Head Coach at a Power 5 university football program would completely ignore, disregard, overrule the protocols put in place in order to proceed with football, bypass the athletic training and health staff, in order to keep a player on the field as opposed to making them sit for a few days?

Is that some kind of a joke? Someone's been eating stupid pancakes for breakfast again

Response was to the first line of your post.

They certainly cheat in recruiting, down there. And the majority opinion down there is that the virus is a political hoax.

So, yes, I absolutely believe they would cheat the protocol if a star player suddenly tests positive a couple days before a huge rivalry game.

Then why are they allowed to practice? And why are they planning for a delayed start in January?

Good question. Spring season probably isn’t happening in the big ten west. But if there’s a miracle and tons of organization and financial expenditure by the conference to build a metaphorical bubble, maybe.

There have been many players throughout the years who have said that coaches, trainers, etc. have drugged them up to beat hell when they were injured to get them on the field so I don't think seeing a breaking of COVID protocol is farfetched. However, the political and media ramifications with a COVID situation would be insane in comparison which hopefully would cause them not to.

Could a coach potentially cover up a positive test result for a star player? yes, that is plausible.

But - if that coach got caught, it would be career over. Any coach who got caught trying to pull that would receive a lifetime ban, AND spend the rest of his life in court dealing with the gazillion lawsuits that would be directed at him.

In today's day and age with social media, et al? Ooof!

I think the appropriate quote here is, "the only way two people can keep a secret is if one of them is dead". That's why I referred to post #32 here as about the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

Stupider than the posts where you’ve advocated the defunding or higher education, even though you never attended? Hardly

You're right. Injuries can last weeks, or the entire season or an entire career. Testing positive will keep you out of practice for a couple of days, or a week or so, until you clear protocol.

Do you mean "until you're clear of the virus"? And, doesn't COVID last longer than a couple of days, or even longer than a week (or so)?

I don't know what exactly the protocols are for each individual sport, I'm sure they are all a little bit different? As an example, the NFL players that tested positive early on got sent home for a little bit and shortly thereafter they returned to practice, whether it was 4-5 days or a week, 10 days, whatever. I don't know what standard they had to meet for being able to return to practice.

I believe you had to test negative twice in a row, maybe some hours or a day apart.

I enjoyed my pancakes by the way. Meanwhile you're out of touch as to what coaches will do to get ahead.

Not only on the field- remember they are already practicing 20+ hours per week. The only way they can get Corona is by playing a 3 hour game vs an opponent.

Or leaning closely on a saloon bar together.
