. ... and still no announcement on the tournament's 2025 location. That's highly unusual. Feels like something out of the ordinary (like Minneapolis this past season) is brewing.

"Why not" is to keep players away from gamblers and casinos!
Maybe a bunch of teams will tank if the tournament is announced to be played in Vegas. That way they can keep their players out of harm's way 👍

I went with Indianapolis. That's where it should be the majority of the time.

I get the allure of Vegas or LA but I really hope they keep it in Midwest where there's a number of schools within driving distance.

Go Gophers!!
My guess is the gambling/ tourism industry in Vegas can ensure the conference big $ whether they sell one ticket or not.

Perhaps the conference wanted a location that didn’t want it. Really wierd that no date or location has been announced yet.

Chicago, since the conference originated there - especially with the new teams coming in.

Las Vegas seems like the appropriate place. They're already having a pre-season festival to introduce players to agents.

Post-season would be even better. Deals could be cut on the spot.

Vegas or LA would be utterly stupid.

Give it to Detroit, Milwaukee, or Cleveland please.

Chicago. "Centrally" located, easy to get to.

So you are telling me with 18 Big Ten teams our goal is to finish 15th or better?
Coach Ben says we have 8 seniors...if we can get to the 9th place neighborhood we could be a tournament bubble team...maybe?

Just a guess, but based on the new landscape in college basketball (18-team Big Ten + ACC, Big XII & SEC mega-conferences) I’d feel very comfortable saying Big Ten will get no less than 9 teams in the tourney next season. And that may be a bit low. And the Big XII could surpass that.

If you thought the “little guys” were getting screwed on at-large bids previously, wait ‘til we start seeing what happens moving forward.

So if the Gophers can “simply” finish with the 11th or 12th best resume in the Big Ten, they’ll likely be a bubble team. Sadly, those are our standards, and have been for way too long.

I suspect the depths the NCAA will go for choosing teams from the Power conferences will be dependent on the middle and bottom of the leagues. If they are really bad, like B1G was last year, it will damage the middle rung bubble teams. Leagues like the Big 12 who really do have a lot of good teams will really benefit. A lot of it will depend on which power schools decide to compete and which ones just give up and take the TV money checks and become paid losers for the higher end of the league. I think there will be several in each conference, and I think we are a good candidate for paid loser.

That's a really good synopsis on U of M athletics at this point. Pretty much sums up perfectly why I'm finally not renewing my Gopher season tickets but continuing my St. Thomas season tickets. Whatever this new era of college athletics brings, I'm confident UST at the very top is committed to excellence. I don't feel that same way about the U of M, and haven't for quite some time.
