For those that are interested, Barreiro is talking to Maturi right now. Mbakwe resolution and the Big 10 meetings yesterday in Chicago to be discussed. Podcastable later.

Did he ask Maturi what he thought of "Basement Brew"?

Barreiro and Smartass Sidekick were like new people. You'd expect them to two-faced when talking directly to Maturi, but what I noticed was that there wasn't the usual snarkiness after Maturi left. At least not for the five minutes or so I listened to. They went directly to a riveting segment on a traffic jam in China. Methinks the theory KSTP might foster a new attitude is right on.

Maturi was most interesting on Mbakwe. Said the fact he was charged influenced his thinking. Never dreamed it would take 16 months to resolve when it happened. Strongly made the point (and was convincing) that it was also in Trevor's best interests not to have to face fans on the road with this hanging over him. Unsaid was that the U also didn't take the PR hit.

Have to read between the lines on football alignment since he wasn't very specific. Money is driving everything. OS and Michigan are split. Games within the division will come later in the schedule. I believe he said everyone will play their one big rival. Favors 9 game Big Ten season. Advantages outweigh disadvantages. (Money) Doesn't see anymore expansion for a few years. (Money)

One question on pricing for basketball centered around the poor pre-season schedule. He made the usual weak excuses about hard it is to get quality opponents. Defended priority seating. (Money) Would have liked a question on the practice facility but that would have meant some research on the part of the host.

Barreiro also asked why the U was pursuing the Williams appeal. Maturi washed his hands of that saying he and Tubby have moved on. They've been told they wouldn't be called as witnesses in the appeal. Made it very clear decisions like that were made above him. He also alluded to that when talking about Trevor. He seemed to have no say in whether Trevor was allowed to stay in school. He had to decide what to do about him after Trevor was allowed to remain.

People jump all over for Maturi for being weak but listening to him makes me again realize what a bureaucracy he has to navigate in. If you've been a student there, you know it's one. What you tend to ignore is that everyone wallows in it.

Justin Gaard on here trying to talk Gopher sports and funnel people to KFAN is absolutely hilarious!

Come on, folks. You're going to force Doogie to chime in and tell us what neat guys Dan and Justin are and how much they love their families.

I'm not going to b!tch about a decent interview with our AD. Thanks for the heads up, Justin.

JG is a die-hard college football fan... not sleeping on some Saturdays after driving back-and-forth from Iowa City... just to make it back in town for his work duties on Sundays is dedication... Barreiro is as talented a talk-show host as there is in the Midwest... he knows how to entertain, and certainly can rile up the masses.

blah blah blah....why do you feel the need to defend Doogie?

He's a diehard fan for our hated rival, that's your argument for us to support him? We should cut him slack because his sleep is interrupted by his love of the Hawkeyes?

WE DON'T NEED YOU

Instead of calling this site "gopher hole" lets call it "bitter old men hole".

I am definitely not on board with the personal attacks. I used to be a big fan of JG, as I know some of his relatives, but he definitely has fallen into Dan's schtick, which is really unfortunate. It is great that he is a dedicated hawkeye fan, but he is also a professional that should realize you lose credibility when taking constant cheap shots at the local team.

As for doogie's comments on Dan, I do not consider the lack of research, cheap shots, and overall undercutting of every team but the Vikings "one of the most talented in the Midwest". Back in the day, maybe he was, but given what I have heard for the past few years before changing my dial, I will completely disagree.

Thanks for posting that, sounds like a good interview.

Actually Burrito Boy may be the angry old man, not some posters on this board. If his abrasive spewing is considered professional then I feel sad for him and his listeners. Stirring up the masses used to be laudable but with Burrito Boy the schtick is simply laughable. Throw in his Iowa pee-on and it gives Gopher fans no real reason to listen. When the Gophers turn the corner we don't need this pair to jump on the bandwagon.

Barrerio calls it like he see's it. Why does he have to play into the "ra ra sky u mah" bs? This is not his job. His job is to entertain and get ratings. Its pathetic that people can't take a JOKE.

Like I said, there are alot of "bitter old men" out there. You obviously being one of them.

And by the way, you will need and want KFANs support when/if this program ever gets turned around.

Oh, Doogie. Your comment is laughable and tiresome. Regarding Gaard, you are right, that is dedication - to the Hogeyes.

When the Gopher Football program gets turned around Dan will be begging the AD, the head coach, and Gopher fans to support HIS program. And it has already started. Or maybe you haven't noticed that his producer has started posting in GopherHole? At this point Barreiro needs Gopher football a hell of a lot more than Gopher football needs him.

LOL....man you are funny. Because the vikings, twins, wild, and t'wolves dont exist right? I think you've got this one turned around a bit.

C'monman, I guess I may be a "bitter old man" but I simply don't find Burrito Boy's so-called jokes very funny. I certainly don't need KSPAM to tell me when the Gophers football team turns the corner. Are you Danny Burrito in disguise? I'm not saying they have to fall in lock-step with the ra ra sky u mah bs, as you so eloquently put it, but a few good comments tossed in with all the negativity might actually give me a reason to tune in once in awhile.

So what you're saying is, in a hypothetical world in which the Gophers win Big Ten titles and compete for national titles, KFAN wouldn't want/need to give more coverage?
