Kill. Probably a great guy. Has proven to be a good coach in his previous stops.

Kill. Not a kill shot, and will in no way excite the fan base.

A real "Tubby Smith Hire". This program is at the bottom of the ocean floor if this is the best we can do. Can I take my Trestman assessment back? I bet he's really gonna be a recuiter if this is true.
 

Nothing against Kill but this is an indictment of how low our program is.
 


If this is true than the U will be getting back 6 season tickets! I agree this hire means that the U went on the cheap and got turned down by everyone. I am sick to my stomach! We will be doing this all over again in a couple of years.

'Buzz' to me is entirely secondary to wins, and if this guy follows his past history of winning everywhere he's gone, then we got ourselves a heck of a football coach assuming any of this is true, which is still very much in doubt.
 

What you all need to realized is that Joel Maturi, unlike all of you, has done his homework. Name one thing Joel Maturi has ever done to damage your confidence in him.
 

I will gladly take someone without hair if he has a record like this.

How in the HELL could you not take an assistant from a major program over Jerry Kill...are you F'ng kidding me if this is true? A 49 year old guy with ZERO experience recruiting against BCS teams? I would want the head of everyone associated with hiring Jerry Kill.
 

Please Joel, I'll take Chryst, Trestman, Fedora before Jerry Kill.
 



isnt it Schmitt that said Fedora was on campus. I will not believe anything from the media on this story until it comes from the U.

Kill does not excite me at all. Getting a coach from the MAC is not what we needed. With that said, Kill has done a great job at NIU. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Kill He is not a kill shot but he could be a sleeper. I have more hope for him than I did for Brewster.
 

The only good thing I can say is I'd rather have Kill then Chryst or Trestman. He may do OK here. But I certainly don't see any Rose Bowls for the next decade. I'd much rather have had Edsall, Hoke, Sumlin, Golden, etc and to be quite honest, I'd almost rather give Horton a shot.
 

Don't believe anything until the University sends out an announcement via FB and Twitter.

That would be every decision he made in the 2 major sports except hiring Tubby Smith.

Some people on this board cannot detect sarcasm. Or they don't recognize the "I did my homework" quote from when Brewster was hired.
 

Rather than calling for Maturi to be fired I want pretty much everyone in the Minneapolis media fired. Doogie included. What a mess this whole thing has been on their end.
 

Why wouldn't have Kill or Chryst been considered initially if we initially considered Calhoun, Golden and Hoke? How are they worse candidates than those three?

MN must be perceived as a dumpster fire by most coaches. It does appear that a high profile coach does not want to come anywhere near this program. Very sad.
