Then we've lowered the bar to the ground for the trained journalists in town. A lot of these aren't being presented as rumors but facts. I wonder if the two papers and Rosen, Perkins, Schmit etc. are really comfortable saying "here's something we've heard and we have no idea whether it's true or not"
I'd rather have something confirmed before it's thrown-out there, particularly if it's a reputable journalist. Hoping for two sources may be asking for too much.
I agree. It's one thing for someone who doesn't represent themselves as a journalist to spread rumors on twitter, but I for one believe that the standard of print ought to be met before a self-described journalist makes a statement on twitter.
