Kill was a dud. Brewster was a fraud and a dud. Brewster being the wrong hire doesn’t make Kill the right one. I am glad Kill is gone, wanted him gone sooner, and don’t find anything about his tenure or schtick compelling.

Have they always played such weak schedules like they have since he took over?
Jer' is from Kansas and learned recruiting from Kansas and K-State - 2 of the best at scheduling Directional Utah States.... It's all part of his master plan.....

Top 2 former Minnesota coach currently coaching in the state of New Mexico. And he isn’t #1.

ol' jer' is a ball coach. it's who he is, it's in his blood. he turns boys into men and football is his vehicle. he's also a fix it guy and ad's call him when their programs need fixin'. yes we have two bad loses in a row, but this program doesn't need fixin', we need to change our best and we will do so as a f.a.m.i.l.y, we will not do it brick by brick.

IMHO, Kill came in after the Brewster debacle and he - at the very least - helped make MN competitive again. Players went to class. they had 2 8-win seasons and went to multiple bowl games.

at the very least, Kill and Claeys raised the floor from where Brewster left it. those teams may not have been offensive juggernauts, but they played solid defense and sent a number of players to the NFL.

I don't know what would have happened to the program if Kill had stayed healthy. but I appreciate what he did while he was here.
For sure

He quit here before he got canned to avoid never being hired again.
That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard or read. Kill quit Minnesota in 2015 with a winning record, having been voted Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2014.

He left because he was having seizures every day and if he hadn't left to get his health in order, the lifestyle of a coach would certainly have killed him.

The tendency of sports fans to dishonor the memory of ex-coaches is baffling. It's the reason why I tell people that when Fleck leaves, no matter when or how he leaves, you'll end up hating him, too.

I might say I'd bring Kill back, but of course I wouldn't if we could. I like him too much to see him suffer in the high-pressure grind. NMSU is probably the perfect place for him to finish his coaching career.

And why would we want to hire a coach back who was worse here than our current coach, quit, and publicly trashed the school and current coach after leaving?
Seems appropriate given the way we have hired coaches in the past.

Regardless of potential health concerns, based on previous coaching efforts, Jerry Kill deserves all the credit he gets. His teams win and work hard. I'd take him again in a heartbeat, although Coyle would probably balk at it.
His teams do win, just not as much as Fleck teams, so why would we hire him if Fleck was fired?

That's probably to do with sample size. One is on a six game winning streak and the other is coming off back-to-back losses to Illinois and Purdue.
One has three conference championships and the other has one.
One has a career record of 173-113 and the other is 79-53.
I'll grant you that Fleck has had a higher peak, but Kill's stint at Minnesota was cut short after less than five seasons.

The bottom line is that they're both winners and it's really a matter of preference.

I guess I didn’t include Kill’s FCS record and Gateway conference championships. I think Fleck clearly accomplished more in the MAC and in the B1G. Even if you think Kill’s accomplishments are equal, not sure it makes sense to fire someone just to hire an equal.

Totally agree. Had Kill not set fire to his own legacy he would be beloved around here by most.

Unfortunately no one is more about JK than JK. He is by far the most self absorbed coach we've had here, far and away more than PJ.

JK burned the house down when he left because he can't help himself.

The fact that there are 11 people who actually voted Yes to the idea of bringing Kill back shows how delusional some people are about this stuff.

They want to bring back the coach who at his best here was not as good as the guy they want to replace and on top of that they want to bring back the guy who trashed the University after he left. Yep, makes total sense.

Mason and Barrerio discussed the people wanting Fleck gone on KFAN yesterday. Mason's main line was "Be careful what you wish for" and then talked about what happened here after he was fired.

If at some point the U does decide to move on from Fleck it needs to be for a far better candidate than someone like Jerry Kill.

I saw some Boise State folks on Twitter throwing Ol' Jer's name out to fill their open H.C. position. Kill won't get you across the Jordan but he'll get you through the desert.
Let my people go.

Jerry was a good coach, I don't understand the vitriol from some fans.
He's human, made a couple emotional mistakes on his way out. But I'm very grateful for what he did for the program.

I also have had more fun memories at his games than Flecks. He absolutely developed some studs in his time here as well.

I'd like to add in the recruiting too. Remember when Kill was here and we were all excited about that 3* center from Texas committing to us. I can't remember his name, but didn't he start as a freshman? That was like a big get for us. That's just random signings for Fleck.
