JC Quarterback

I just heard they are both a long way off. Not untalented but not ready to lead this team either. I figured it would be a good idea to maybe have some kind of backup plan. They are looking at the JUCO ranks.
. They aren't looking at Juco ranks. The last 3 years were the juco time but it's too late now.

I don't know if anyone can find this out, but if you can - which college FB team has the most JUCO starters? I have this notion that K-State used to have a ton of JUCO's back in the day, so got me wondering which team or program relies most heavily on JUCO's.

Huh? No.

It would absolutely make sense to bring in a JuCo QB. I am not saying we will, but it would be the perfect time to.

As long as he is better than the jc olineman that we brought in

Not sure how to figure that out. I suspect it has more to do with how much turnover a team has had and/or the coach's connections to players. JUCO now though is a well scouted space. A lot of the best JUCO guys are all but committed to another school from what I understand. Some of those guys look available but they're already committed informally.

An older article I read: KSU had onwards of 39-40 JUCO/preps on their roster during the 2007-2010 timeframe I believe. Several teams were in the 20s, and many were in the teens. Minnesota was tops in the Big Ten at 16. Power 5 teams were all well-represented.

Next August is a long way off. A lot can happen between now and then with the development of one of the current guys, or more than one.

For what it's worth, I think Jordan Ta'amu will be signed to this class and I think he'll be the starting QB next season.

If there isn't a quarterback better than Liedner on the roster this is something that SHOULD be attempted.

you guys are scooping burns.

No, I'm not scooping Burns.

I don't subscribe to his service. I know a lot of people like him but that stuff just isn't for me. I once saw one of them post a recruiting update about a kid only to find out he had just been following the kid's twitter and he mistook a reference in a video game to some recruiting info.

Additionally, I don't like the idea that if people pay for it, they can't do what they want with it. You probably shouldn't copy and paste stuff, but you can certainly tell people about it. If I bought a movie, I could certainly tell people all about it.

So no, not scooping Burns. The Gopher's interest in this kid is absolutely no secret.

Bronco football receives big post-season honors - NMMI Post

Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu was named to the 2016 All Region team and All-SWJCFC first team, as well as being picked as the Southwest Junior College Football Conference Player of the Year.

That last award, said coach Joe Forchtner, “is about as big of an honor as you can get. He’s a really good player and he had a really good season, so I thought it was well deserved. He earned it.”

From 9/16/16

What type of offense did you run in high school?

“We ran a spread offense, similar to Oregon and NMMI – a read option. We would spread the defense out to pick them apart. I am a dual-threat. If there is an open hole I am taking off. I can always use my feet worse comes to worst.”

Which schools are showing interest in you?

“Minnesota, they have been contacting me and asking about my transcripts. Florida A&M and UCF – I’ve been sending them my highlights from each game. Adams State asked me if I would consider D-II. The Lobos (New Mexico) and Hawaii – they are keeping in touch.”

I like claeys but the fact that he didn't go jc qb this season is reason enough to can him. Too late man. So frustrating for fans.

You like Claeys, but you think he should have been fired for not bringing in a JuCO QB to replace a QB who was a middle of the road, two year returning starter at QB during his first recruiting class (not even really his class)?

That's fine if you hold that crazy opinion, but you don't like Claeys if you do.

I appreciate the sentiment, but "scooping Burns" would normally mean that you have the news before Burns, not that you're copying him. I think you and Tackle4Loss are both using that term wrong.

Ta'amu looks like a Seth Green clone to me. His first 6 or 7 highlights were zone reads. They were good reads, but he doesn't look like an explosive runner...just a long-strider. Then his next 6 highlights were long passes off play action to very open WR's. He didn't show a timing route until about 20 plays in. He's also got a very weird motion...throws low, almost from below his shoulder or around his ear like a catcher. Doesn't appear to have much velocity or arm strength.

The staff obviously knows best, so he must do something better than Seth. I'm just not seeing it on that film.

Maybe he's not better than Seth. Maybe he's better than the other guys we have for next year. We've had years of experience with lack of decent back-up Quarterbacks.

Exactly. Mitch won't be around. There is speculation whether Rhoda will be around. There is speculation on Williams moving to WR. Worst case is that he provides some much needed depth.
