Jacob Knuth Commits!

They are recruiting him on his stature, not who he is playing. It does make a difference who you are playing as a QB vs. other positions. If the kid played in 6A in Minnesota he would get 10 to 15 throws per game. Trey was like 6'2" 190 pounds out of HS, he grew like a lot of kids do.

No, they aren't. There are tons of 6'4" QBs throughout the country that we didn't offer.

Just looked at the SD football rankings and it looks like they only rank five teams in each class.

WTH? Are there that few decent teams in that State?
Because there are so few people in the state?

PJ was in town to watch yesterday, here are some highlights. Knuth had a really nice long throw and a nice catch for a TD as well.

I hope he got to use a private jet for that short hop, and not have to make that shit drive from TC to SF both ways, nor fly on a Delta commuter jet with regular people who would be hounding him nonstop on the plane and in the airports.

So there are 10 total teams in South Dakota's top AAA football class. The three public SF high schools, the big Catholic private in SF, Brandon and Harrisburg are bedroom communities of SF, and the two public schools in Rapid City (way out west, town has about 75k pop.).

Not sure why Aberdeen and Watertown made the cut, but Brookings didn't for example. Guess they decided to make it an even 10 and those two were the unlucky last two in.

Drive to SF is not that bad. Also I don't think PJ minds being "among the people" on a Delta flight. He looked entirely in his element at the Scheels autograph signing.

8 hrs of driving in a day in flat as a pancake farm land?

Disagree

Fair enough, but getting non-stop mobbed by people asking for autograph, asking about this player's health, asking why didn't we do this or that?

I would duck that all day, as a coach, outside of planned public sessions like you mentioned a Scheel's autograph.

I don't mind it. Just drove to Fargo and back this summer in the same day. Not a big deal.

Sure.

I just hope that Fleck did not spend 8hrs of his working time as the Gophers coach .... driving himself to a location, doing nothing else. I guess he could talk on the phone for 8hrs and get some things done, perhaps.

I agree it would be a waste of time for the head coach (although there's lots you can do as a passenger). I just don't think the drive is as awful as you said it was.

Concentrate on how ugly farm land is and how pathetic you find the hicks in the country rather than worrying about how PJ manages his work time. He's pretty good at that.

He's pretty good at that.
He has to be, to survive. Hence why I doubt he wasted 8hrs of his precious time driving himself anywhere (let alone across ugly, flat farmland).

An attendance boundary for a single high school is not at all the same thing as a school district, if that's what you were thinking.

He said school district. He was wrong. 0.000% chance that Harrisburg school district overtakes Sioux Falls school district in size, in any number of coming years.

Moving on
The corporate limits of Sioux Falls do not coincide with the school district boundaries. In fact, a large swath of southern Sioux Falls (where much of the Sioux Falls growth is concentrated) is actually in the Harrisburg district. It's building schools left and right and it's buildings are crowded still. I believe Harrisburg is already building a second high school. Although still not likely, it even probable, it isn't inconceivable.

His 40 time (4.93) wasn't good but man he was elusive with the read option and agile enough to hit the corner.
Liedner was probably the 3rd best quarterback in the south suburban conference his senior year, though he had already committed to the gophers a year earlier.

he was the second best quarterback in the town of Lakeville his senior year.

About whom are you speaking?

Leidner had all the measurables.
Yep, he did. There are tons of guys who are 6'4" who never get a Big 10 scholarship. There are tons of guys who are over 6'4" and get a scholarship and turn out.

About whom are you speaking?
Trey Heide QB at Lakeville North at the same time. He went on to be one of the best players in all of D2 at Augustana.

Do I think he would have been as good as Leidner in the Big 10? Probably not. Mitch had 99 career TDs. I am not a Leidner fan boy, but some of the hot takes on this board force rationale people to defend outrageous takes.

Fair point, thanks for the info.

He (GWG) meant the size of each high school, and that HHS would become the largest high school in the state. Just worded it wrongly.
