2012 - 12-0 (wisconsin wins big ten at 7-5)
2013 - 12-2 (lost big ten title game to Michigan state)
2014 - 14-1 (Ohio state big ten and national champion)
2015 - 12-1 (Michigan state beats Iowa by 3 in big ten title game…Ohio state finishes 4)
2016 - 11-2 (Penn state wins big ten but Ohio state goes to playoff)
2017 - 12-2 (Ohio state beats wisconsin by 6 in big ten title game)

2018, 2019, 2020 - all Ohio state big ten titles

so basically, this is the first year since the big ten title game was invented when one of the two following things isn’t true:

Ohio state with interim coach, on scholarship reductions OR With a smaller senior class due to earlier restrictions

OR

Ohio state winning the championship.


even when they were impacted by 2010 scandal…
79-15 with 2 big ten titles in 7 seasons
Excluding the 6-7 under fickle
73-8 with 2 big ten titles and 3 division titles in 6 years while on probation or with smaller senior classes due to probation.

in those 7 seasons they were impacted by probation:
Ohio state 2
Michigan state 2
Penn state 1
Wisconsin 2 (one of these seasons wisconsin was 7-5 and Ohio state was 12-0 but ineligible for championship game)

All fair points. Going forward though, it's starting to be the majority of players were recruited not by Urban Meyer as HC and in a few years none, so perhaps the other teams in the East can knock them off.

If still given the opportunity hopefully the West will be able to win a game here or there. I wouldn't bet on it though.

I agree.
It didn’t help that this year the 3rd best team in the west played against Michigan

The sample size is so small. 10 games. 3-4 blowouts in 10 games doesn’t mean that the west sucks for the end of time

Ok....go ahead and pretend OSU hasn't been playing/recruiting on a different level than the rest of the conference. Bottom line is that the West can compete with the East just fine outside of the 1-2 teams at the top of that division who are among the best of the best in all of college football.

Look I get that you are just being argumentative to be argumentative. Or maybe you spend so much time on the basketball forum that you don't really get the power structure in college football right now.....tough to say.

How many more bucks could a late October tilt be in Prime Time? That would also prevent a potential rematch in the Big 10 Championship being on back-to-back weeks.

Great points, both that TV might be able to dictate it and that frankly if the conference is smart it should be moving its very top rivalry matchups away from the final week of the regular season. To minimize the likelihood of a champ game rematch being not long after the initial game was played.

I think that was done because of tradition and because that really used to be the last week of the season, when there were no conference championship games.

How does a team change their outcomes, you know, to move "up" in the "power structure" that is cf?

When you figure that one out there will be a lot of teams thrilled to learn how to do it.

There should be at least one rivalry game each week of the season to maximize TV. (Even during Non-Conference weeks). Not a huge fan of so many being the last week and often affected by weather of Thanksgiving.

There are about 20 B1G Rivalry games although not all are for trophies.

Yes, plus prior to the 70s most conferences were only sending 1 team to a Bowl (including the Big 10) so the regular season ender was truly the capper to the campaign. Each team had the big rivalry/trophy game as the final carrot to compete for bragging rights.
