It's time for a change.

Gophers-

You guys are fine. Ups and downs happen. You don’t have a Fickell so stay the course. Badgers won’t be competitive for years. Enjoy your bowl game. We won’t see one until at least 2028 or later.

We obviously didn't and haven't paid a coordinator that much
Or, and then since I’ve long since beaten this horse to death for the last time, Rossi was just ready to get away from PJ to get a break from all that is RTB. I don’t know that for a fact and you don’t know otherwise but if anyone thinks that of PJ went to Coyle and said he needed two or three more million more dollars to pay his staff he wouldn’t get it. Your head is in the sand.

It's not entirely a level playing field, you can still fund raise and pay outside NIL if it is legitimate earnings, I think from boosters..
I’m speaking specifically in regards to revenue received by the schools for media as mentioned in the post to which I responded. Just because Minnesota gets a ton of money from broadcast deals does not give them a leg up against any of their competition.

Ya think maybe folks get tired of PJ and 75 buzzwords you need to mix into every conversation? We could’ve matched those contracts if we wanted to and or if those folks had any desire to stick around. We are short NIL money we are not short money to pay our coaches.
Our budget for assistant coaches is 17th in the league. Where is this money you speak of?

I'm so fucking tired of.the "NIL, nothing we can do" line of bullshit.
Because it's mostly bullshit.
The staff knows how much money they have to work with and need to do a better job of what positions they allocate the money. Figure out how they can create mismatches. OL needs to be a high priority and maybe they load up on skilled TEs that create a mismatch and can help in the run game? Need to figure out a way that they can have success with their limited dollars.

You guys or something. Are you adding up all of the salaries for our assistant coaches and then calling that the budget? Say two cracker jack coordinators became available and PJ wanted them and went to Coyle and said I need $1 million more for each of them to replace the duds we have now and then I think we take that next step, he would get it. We have a group of coaches right now that our never beens and never will be’s and are being paid accordingly.

Please provide proof of this concept or are you just making up a scenario in order to be mad that it’s not happening?

It’s why they can’t win consistently at a high level. It’s also likely a contributing factor why coaches leave. Coaches that want to move up in their career know it’s easier to look good and build a resume with better players. That and many other schools pay assistants more as well. It all comes down to money for players and coaches and relative to other major conference programs the gophers aren’t anywhere near the top.

Like Barry Switzer used to say, “it’s the Johnnie’s and Joe’s’ more then the x and o’s”

If that is the reason they need to fire Coyle and find an AD that can tap into wealthy alumni and local corporations to build up an NIL fund so they can win consistently.

I like PJ, but... this is our ceiling. So if you want 7 or 8 wins, and an occasional 9+ win season, stick with PJ. We'll never win the B10 under him, never go to college football playoffs. Reason is, he will get good enough players with his salesman personality, but he is not a good an X's or O's guy, so he will always rely on good coordinators. The sad thing is, even if he finds good coordinators, they will come and go, and move on... Usually getting poached if they are good and moving on to get better coaching jobs. So we're stuck trying to find the next good coordinator... and as we have seen, PJ really can't tell a good one from a bad one... with a lot of his misses. So do we stick with PJ and be ok with this ceiling, or do we try to find a brilliant mind out there that can coach and beat good coaches? Knowing Minnesota nice and football at the U, not being a priority... we probably should just be happy with this ceiling.

Yes, you are beating a dead horse and your dislike of PJ and bias is evident.

All true, but I couldn’t help but beat the dead horse because a lot of times when I have a difference of opinion with folks on here, it’s just because we have a difference of opinion. With you and a couple of the other guys about this budget and salary issue it’s just that you guys are dumb.

For whatever reason, the U of M is just never able to get the prestige of other big ten schools, don't know why but we are always one of the bottom feeders even though the surrounding talent and area is great.

Says the guy that thinks there’s this giant surplus budget for our assistant coaches yet we never rank anywhere near the top of the conference for what our assistants make and are middle of the road at best for our HCs. You really think year after year it’s Fleck saying no it’s okay I’ll find some cheaper coaches, don’t match offers for these guys that have done well here, don’t look for proven guys to replace them? Just because all B1G teams make money doesn’t mean they all invest it the same into their football programs.

It's time for a change! Clean house after the Badgers game.
-Zero wins against Michigan and Ohio State.
-1-8 vs Iowa (Hawkeyes have been mostly mediocre during Fleck's tenure)
-4-4 vs Wisconsin and probably gonna lose next week.
-Two catastrophic collapses to NW in your last two meetings against them.
-Bottom 4th in the conference each year in recruiting.
-Good coordinators leave for same job elsewhere.
-Losing record in Homecoming games.
Fire PJ, fire all of them, and start with Coyle.

NIL-wise I would think Indiana is similar to us. What are they doing that we aren't?
More fertile recruiting ground would be one thing I suppose.

I don’t think Indiana is similar. I think they’ve seen a huge influx of cash. I believe Mark Cuban is involved

I don’t think anyone really knows. They did get Mendoza who I can’t imagine was cheap, not sure we’ve ever paid up for someone like that.

Indiana is outpacing us.

Their QB is pretty pricey

No one knows for sure, but it's unlikely we're close to Indiana in nil

100% PJ as well under any sort of conceivable budget because of the lack of experience on his staff

asinine

He is under budget this year since Heatherman would’ve made a good million more than Collin’s had he stayed, but anyone we pay 1-1.5 mil a year to and does well is going to get paid more by someone else and will leave.

Our last two combined classes are ranked very close together. The difference IMHO is coaching and player development, and it's a pretty big difference.

Paying good coaches highly competitive salaries might be how the exceed expectations. Phil Parker at Iowa is an example. Iowa doesn’t have top money but they make sure they have really good coaches.

i kind of wonder what someone like you does with their life, like your job, etc

They aren’t rolling in money when they have to financially support all these others teams at the university as very little booster money comes in for any of the sports, atleast relative to their peer programs that they want to beat.
That's a Coyle issue. The $$ should go to the programs that make the $$.
Decisions, decisions.

CHANGE, wearing white over white on the road. 5 games white over white in some regard, 5 games were a debacle....all losses.

Sounds silly I know, but prove me wrong.
