Okay Rich, you have three top recruits in your new backyard. Let's see what you've got.

Surely Teague looked at the young hire option and was aware he faces a daunting task in competing with hall of fame recruiting competition.

Don't know if I should mention this but he didn't make the second round of interviews at Sienna...

You are a real piece of work. There's plenty of room on the Texas Tech bandwagon, feel free to jump on or just jump.

eh....................................

I'm not a Tubby fan I'm a Gopher fan!!!!!!!!

might need to do better than that NCAA wins (I am sorry to inform you) is only one measure of success.

I have no idea if he can recruit the Big 3 but I will bet we get players more highly rated than we have been. I will also bet Little Richard out coaches Tubby at Minnesota.

The big 3 are important but let's not tie the program's future success to just those 3 players. If Pitino can get 1 or 2 then great, but how he puts together the class of 2013 will also be very important and there will be plenty of other great players in 2014 he could get.

Getting Tyus and/or Rashad and/or Reid will be nothing less than a miracle. I expect they'll be verballing within 90 days. If he gets 1 or more of them he's a genius. If not, it doesn't prove he's not.

I doubt many of them will verbal by early July. They are sought after by everyone.. they will string this out for some time.

If he got even one to come, it would be a miracle. love this hire

Most recruits, including top recruits, will have probably committed by early July. Just based off interviews, I think Tyus will be a wait-and-see kind of guy. See how Kentucky is next year, see if he could actually make a run with Minnesota next year, see how Duke is, etc.

I won't be judging Pitino's recruiting ability on whether or not he is able to get any of the big 3 in 2014. He is late to the party on guys that are being recruited by the top coaches in the nation. In my opinion it is unrealistic to expect him to land any of them. Getting even one would show that he is definitely a good recruiter but missing on all three doesn't mean he can't or won't be able to recruit talented players. I will be judging his true recruiting ability on the 2015 class and beyond.

Best chance is Vaughn. Tyus won't be coming to Minnesota and I have a feeling Travis is going to play football. Hope not, I think Travis has a lot more upside in basketball. I would be extremely surprised if we get any of those 3 and I hope fans and media don't act like we would have kept all of them if tubby was here. I don't think tubby gets all 3 either, probably just Vaughn IMO.

Howard Pulley AAU program founder Rene Pulley supported the Pitino hire but said it would be tough to land any of the state's top juniors -- Apple Valley's Tyus Jones, Cooper's Rashad Vaughn and De La Salle's Reid Travis.

Jones and Travis both will play for Pulley this AAU season.

"He's a nice kid; he's energetic; he's got name recognition," Pulley said. "I hope he can get it done. But I would think players of the caliber of (Jones, Vaughn and Travis) would actually play for the dad (Rick Pitino) rather than the son."

Go Gophers!!

Musselman was 30 when he got hired. Potion, the same. It's a young mans profession. The down side is that, if he does well, he will be gone in 4 yrs. hopefully, he can legate the program.

Get Ellis back, the neighborhood kid, and spot shooter from Lakeville.

Forget the other two, if he can get Vaughn then he's recruited his first star.

Sounds like he has a ton of work to do in the eyes of Pulley. Not exactly what you want to hear.

The crazy thing is that Rich Pitino's 2013 FIU recruiting class is probably ranked higher than Tubby's 2013 class. So imagine what Pitino can do once he's here.
