Iowa vs. NDSU..... Dilemma, who to root for...???

I hope Iowa blows them out. If NDSU wins they can now claim they have beat a top Big Ten team (in there minds) In reality all of NDSU wins have been against bad FBS teams.

2013 Kansas State and 2007 Central Michigan weren't bad teams.

Yes they were. They lost at home to NDSU. That makes them a bad team. I don't know much about the Central Michigan team, but KSU was average the year they beat the Bison. And we're playing with a new QB that didn't know what he was doing.

Ummm, I never cheer for Iowa. Loved the Rose Bowl!

So, go Bison.

I want to add that I have run into multiple Hogeye fans who keep talking about their "undefeated season". I mention the last two shellackings and I get the same two reactions: either they don't know what I'm talking about or "they don't count".

Morons to the last.

So if tomorrow they beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa, they would have beaten a bad team, using your stellar logic. Or the Vikings, or the Panthers. It's sad how threatened gopher fans are of the bison. They're doing great and it's a good thing for football in our part of the country. When players start choosing NDSU offers over Minnesota ones, I will start to worry.

The simple answer to this question is option D. None of the Above. In other words NDSU and Iowa are equally worthless.

A loss to a lower level team shows that a team is not very good. Just like when USD and SDSU beat the MBB team. Alabama would not lose to an FCS team this year. Isn't happening. Sorry

I always have rated wisky and iowa as the two...most detested boarder battle foes. You people are now giving the NDSU Bison an elevated position ABOVE our most disliked BIG TEN rivals. Do you realize how much you honor NDSU?

I don't know: maybe the Bison deserve that much respect. As for me: I want to beat the stinking badger and the stinking hawkeye. I will not place the Bison above my closest Big Ten Rival Border Battle Teams. Actually, I have to kind of admire the way NDSU plays football. They really are a pretty damn solid program. I don't know why some of you folks can't keep Big Ten Rivals straight from regional rivals who have risen up a few times to kick our Gopher Butts the last few times the teams played and have also usually provided some pretty stiff competition with the level my Gopher Team has been at. You folks really do fear those Bison, don't you. Personally, I like North Dakota...and for that matter South Dakota a hell of a lot better than iowa and Wisconsin.

But, I do respect the way NDSU puts together a football program. They have been pretty damn successful. I don't blame those folks for feeling very proud of their Bison tradition for the "modern" college football era. Believe me, they have earned a bit of respect as they have climbed up in the divisions. But, I will never give them the respect and hate them...the way I hate the stinking badger...and the stinking hawkeye. THAT is a Big Ten thing that is reserved for Big Ten Border Battle teams.

Didn't we also lose to South Dakota? Why don't we hate them?

My thought behind the tread was mostly considering the constant chirping of the fan bases, with side consideration given to the fact that Iowa having a non conference loss on their plate could in some way be of benefit to the Gophers.... I'm not thinking of the Bison in a manner of a rival / foe....

Thankful for everyones input though!

Root for Iowa. If NDSU wins, they will act like they won the College Football playoff but if they lose, nothing really happens, just a Big Ten team beating an FCS team.

And I find NDSU fans much more annoying than Iowa fans.

This is spot on and exactly how I feel. Thats why Im rooting for NDSU

I might give NDSU the nod. With oil prices where they are, it won't be long until meth is once again the number one industry in North Dakota.

Utterly amazing the level of insecurity our fans have when it comes to a football team nearby that doesn't even play in the same division.

A 4-page thread, soon to probably be 6-8 pages, about a game between NDSU and Iowa, 8-9 months from now.

Screw Iowa. Unfathomable how Gopher fans can even think of cheering for the pig farmers in a game between the two

Ndsu finished 2013 with an AP ranking of 29 and a sagarin of 17. Kansas State's bowl game destroying of Michigan was a nice bow tie on a perfect season.

This year, ndsu isn't going to give AL a game any more than MN would. What's the point in talking about Alabama when no one belongs on the same field as them?

I have no rooting interest & don't really care who wins....

Only thing I'll say though, is that NDSU, as annoying as their fans are, does have impressive accomplishments for where they are & the level that they play at. Iowa fans truly believe that they are an elite program.

If Iowa loses, then all we will hear is how the B1G is down and any of our wins don't matter. I want all B1G teams to win all non-conference games and then Wisconsin and Iowa to lose every conference game.

Oh, and I really don't want to hear NDSU fans say they would win 6 games in the B1G west. Because if they beat Iowa, they will claim they can. And believe me, many of them actually believe they can. It is very comical, but also very annoying because of how much they believe it.

Way too many NDSU fans out here in western MN and they are annoying and delusional about where they project on a national scale. They need the snot knocked out of them by Iowa.

Then sack up and play FBS

I think if the Mountain West came calling they'd go. This isn't high school where you can move yourself up and force the league office to place you in a conference. Conferences are far more interested in bigger tv markets than actual talent on the field (see Rutgers and Maryland).

In my mind the best bowl game of the year was the Rose Bowl. I could watch Iowa getting stomped all day. We don't lose any recruits to NDSU. If you don't take any joy from watching Iowa lose, you're really missing out.

So NDSU fans. They think at worst they'd be runners up in the B1G west

I view this matchup as every other game between a real team and a "little brother." I don't really care who wins, because everything of consequence will happen within the conference schedule. Let the little trolls have their moment in the sun during the pre-season games. They don't matter, and never will.
