Fire Tubby. But only if they have a guy they really like locked-up. Same day fire & hire or keep him. No search committees.

Tubby is a good man. He moved the program forward. I don't hate Tubby. But I don't believe he will get this program where we all want it to be.

Fearless prediction -Flip has been to most AV games - he's acting like a coach recruiting talent - So I believe Teague will convince Tubby to hire Flip as a co-coach to be hired in a few years to take over the helm.... Maybe hire T Tucker and Q Lewis to getsome young recruiting guys...

If you were Teague, what would you do?

Knowing only what I've seen on the court this year and over the past 6 years, I'd fire him.

These guys know the inside stuff that we don't. Where does Tubby stand on recruiting for next year? If they feel he can get two of the three- then they will retain him.
What has been the mood of the team about the coaching? If it has been as bad as Playa claims- then he's gone. If on the other hand guys like Dre like playing for Tubby- then maybe he gets retained. How bad is the situation with the major boosters? If it's as bad as some here think- he's probably toast.

We should know in the next day or two.

This. Although the swift firing/hiring won't happen. This is the U. They'll have to be PC about it. They didn't when the hired Tubby, but they had months to execute that.

Agreed. We need someone that can take the program to the next level.

Try not to lose money selling beer next year to pay Teletubby's buyout.

Lol. Flip's going to co-coach for 'a few years' and then take over? Yeah, when Flip's 65 he should be ready. Too green now. And I'm sure both Flip and Tubby would gladly check their egos to allow this arrangement. Wow.

+1. Have Flip on speed dial.

As I've said previously, Trent Tucker is older than all of our current assistants. I'm not sure where this thought of him being "young" came from.

Either way he needs to make an announcement soon and not wait.

I would not think of spending 2.5 million to buy a coach out that just went to the NCAA Tourney and now turn my focus to....Gopher Football

I would dip my bald head in oil and rub it all over a tall Jamaiican maid who doesn't speak English.

I think it will be a tough decision. I see both sides of the argument. I don't have a whole lot of hope with Tubby after this season, but won't be surprised if he is back next year. Like others have said, whatever the decision is, make it soon.

If Teague knows Flip would take the job, he should make the move. If Tubby is back, he needs to shakeup his staff. Taylor should stay since he is the best recruiter and has a relationship with the big 3, however he is in line for a head coaching job somewhere. One way or another, changes need to be made.

Gopherhole PST early front runner

In year 6, 7th place, behind Iowa is not acceptable.

Tubby should go. Fire Tubby and hire Flip.

Why would Tubby or Flip, a former NBA head coach, want that type of arrangement? I think with the expectations as high as they were for this team and the collapse at the end of the year, Tubby is gone. Argue whether he is a good or bad coach all you want but I think he has lost the confidence of the AD and some major supporters in bringing this program to the next level. His troubles recruiting have also not helped and I think we will see that next year as the team may struggle. Tubby has not shown he can take a young team and "coach them up" and have them leave the U as much better players. Because of this, I think the lack of confidence in Tubby getting it done is justified and will lead to a new coach next season.

Woody will keep Tubby and get him a practice faciliy.

I've been hard on the old ball coach in all of his years. I think he makes a lot of mistakes. I'd like to see him adjust to some of the most blatant problems that we see negatively affecting the team time after time, such as the hockey line substitutions and the failure to guard the 3-point line.

That said, I don't think this season was on Tubby as much as it was on the players. In too many games the guys quit on the team, starting with the Michigan loss, and proceeding through to today's lukewarm energy in the first half of the Florida game. You can argue that maybe the lack of energy is reflective on Tubby, and I can buy some of that, but at some point the players need to display their own passion. I see that passion in a lot of guys on Tubby's team, including 2 of the 4 seniors leaving the program (Mbakwe and Ingram). I don't see that passion in a lot of other guys, including the other 2 seniors. How much of that is on the coach, and how much is on the player? I believe it's much more on the player than the coach. This Minnesota team was certainly not the only team to underperform this year. Just look at Kentucky, or UCLA, or Purdue.

Tubby got the team its first NCAA victory in over 15 years. I'm disappointed that the season didn't go further, but the cupboard's not bare next year, and maybe we should see what happens with next year's team before giving up on Tubby. If I'm Teague, I give him 2013-2014 to display that he is indeed the coach that we thought he would be. And here's hoping that Tubby will do everything he can to get his team to overperform next year instead of underperform.

Word, Cmcin. Let's give Tubby and staff another free pass on the players!!

@NSandell: Andre Hollins after the game: "I predict Coach Smith will be back."

@GophersNow: I talked to Tubby later in the locker room and he said there could be staff changes in the offseason, especially if guys get jobs elsewhere

@NSandell

Smith when asked if he has any indication if his job is in jeopardy, replied simply "No"

Teague should do what everyone does with garbage. Throw it out.

Have we really gotten to the point where we accept being below average? Tubby has done nothing in the Big 10 in his time here. He's lead several team's that have underachieved expectations. His in-game decision making has been consistently terrible. Looking ahead, the talent level of this team isn't going to be better than 12-13 any time soon. How can we expect better results with the same coach and lesser talent?
