The question I have - outside of the Andre and Austin, what do we have returning next year? Eliason? In the BigTen, Eliason is a back up - at best. So, a year from now, my expectation is that we will have maybe four BigTen wins? Who on earth is going to want to keep Tubby then? Especially if none of the big three choose to come to MN, and that seems more and more likely every day.

So, assuming we're as doomed as I just described for next year - 4-14 in the Big Ten, we'll have paid Tubby another $2M in salary, and oh yeah, we will still have to pay him that $2.5M buy-out.

Lets move on now.

Keep watching.

If we win and there is a dream of more to come, then we will have major boosters. There's a lot of money in this town, but there are a lot of options. The money goes where the excitement is.

Holy Man is correct, we don't have major boosters. Major boosters don't show up once every 25 years, they show up every time they are needed. Now, we do have lots of alumni and perhaps Teague can talk to someone that is not normally a major booster into becomeing one, slap their name on something. This has always been a problem. Heck, even if some major booster could donate their plane to be used for recruiting, anything would help.

You don't fire a coach at the peak of his performance (even if it is not what you'd expect at this point), you give him next year and if he doesn't make the tourney then you can fire him. It would look horrible to fire him after he did something that we hadn't done this century. Also, this gives him a fair shot at the Big 3 and another year to try and get a practice facility started.

So basically you give him one extra year, if he gets at least one of the Big 3 and makes the tourney he is retained. If he misses on all of the Big 3 and fails to make the NCAA Tournament, fire him. I think this is preciously what Teague will do.

Not trying to start something...but isn't that exactly what UCLA just did by firing Howland? I didn't hear a big uproar about that firing, and that's with a program in a bigger market with much more history and tradition. I really don't think this should be a consideration about whether Tubby is retained or not.
