I Boycott Renewing or Donating to the University of Minnesota

No for participating in a gang bang without the express consent of the victim.

You know there wasn't consent? The only facts I have seen is from the police report from the case investigator who specifically wrote that the videos showed consensual sex. Now if you know something the police don't, by all means run to the police station now and share. Tool.

Send them packing for having group sex?

No, OP mentioned boycotting events to support the football players and MNGoldenGophers1 said possibly more will boycott if they're not shown the door and either way this program is going to be hurting. Just because it appears that most on this board seem to be aligning with the players in this mess, the general public and U of MN fans as a whole may not and either way the U is screwed.

Feel comfort you are on the other side of the argument of this UpNorth thing

Why all the fuss about upnorth.... already said he was leaving and taking his millions in donations.

I think we got a heck of a good deal if it on if cost a few million.

They were investigating whether or not the players committed a crime. The U investigated whether or not the players violated the Student Code of Conduct and any Athletics Department and football team rules. Not close to the same thing.

Can you let us know how you know for sure what happened? You seem to have all the answers.

I don't have any direct knowledge one way or another. But I know guys. I am a guy. And I don't believe their actions could have have been in compliance with the U's policy from start to finish. That is not how gang bangs work. There is no way I am believing a group of football players who are teammates and friends over that of an inebriated girl who told the police she was gang raped by them. The players have far more reasons to lie about what they did then the girl. I believe her. Implicitly. But this is just my opinion and that is why we are all here tonight.

Wow. This conversation is over.

Regarding the topic of this thread -- donations -- I wonder if the football team could create a Go Fund Me page and request donations to fight the EOAA process. I would certainly donate and I'd bet they would get significant national traction.

The piece of testimony where the victim says she had 6 drinks before going to Djam's means she was probably intoxicated an was unable to give consent.

I'm suspect for everyone thinking like you, there is at least an equal number or more who will boycott renewing or donating if the U doesn't send these guys packing. Either way, the U is screwed.

A good AD would have gotten ahead of the story. This moron let the story hit the public and didn't say anything for a couple days. Coyle is sinking and its his own fault.

Sorry, Spoof, but I am not done. As I stated in my post, the football players have far more reasons to lie about what went on then the girl did. They have their college football careers, their scholarships, college degree, and their reputations to protect. I think I have only met one person in my life who wouldn't tell any lie they could think of to avoid getting prosecuted for rape. What did the girl stand to gain by going to the police? The only things she has gained is public shame and humiliation (there are plenty of people who know who she is) and a reputation that will follow her for the rest of her life.

Oh, so you do have proof. What a joke.

I dont know what the hell to think. Either the administration acted in an unjust way, or there was much more to the accusations than has been shared. The confusion within the administration about who made the call, Claeys or others, is frustrating. But as for the substance of the accusations, we need more information to make an informed judgement.

I hope there is an independent, transparent investigation.

Speculation without facts does not help the situation for anyone.

If there were more facts that came to light then we would have heard about Hennepin County reopening the investigation. They definitely would if more incriminating evidence surfaced. This is the same evidence, you just need a lot less in a Kangaroo court or even none at all.

Damn straight! And they are all black to top it off.

Right behind you friend. People who abuse what the office was set to accomplish should be held accountable.

Read my posts again. I never said I had proof. I just gave you my opinion about what happened. That is what we are all here for - to give our opinion. And my opinion is that every guy I know would tell as many lies as he could to avoid getting charged with rape. I put myself in that group. Anyone who understands human nature would never take the word of the players in this case. The only thing that matters is the evidence. And none of us know what the U has them. The only thing we know is the U believes it has enough evidence to suspend or expel 10 of the players for violations of the Student Code of Conduct. We will see after all the appeals are done. But for the time being, I believe the U has all the evidence they need to take the action they did. I think it is the only reasonable position to take.

Go find a line to stand in...seriously.

In the police report, after the video of Djam and her (consensual). She stated "I was shoving people off of me", "they kept ignoring my pleas for help", "Anything I said they laughed", "They tried to cheer people on" she said they were lined up.

Let's try this one more time. I have posted it in every thread today. The police were trying to determine whether the players committed a crime beyond a reasonable double. The U used the police evidence and any new evidence they could find to determine if the players violated the Student Code of Conduct based on a preponderance of the evidence. The two investigations were not even close to the same thing.

Consent or not (but, think about this - many large football players, one drunk unpaid woman....), you do not get to represent the University if you participate in gang bangs and film it as well. That we are here today with the football program in shambles and the noble University of Minnesota being dragged through the muds starts with what these men did.

Now, has leadership failed miserably in controlling this? Yes.

Lose. Lose.

If that is what happened it is sick and reprehensible. The guys involved should have the book thrown at them. But in your summary you've left out a lot of information that doesn't make it that clear cut.

I think it is very transparent that Kimberly Hewitt as head of the EOAA made the call, Kaler backed it (for whatever reason) and it was forced upon Coyle and Claeys.

I would tell lies to avoid a rape conviction too, but that doesn't mean I raped anyone.
