C. The schedule this year was set up for a strong record and they didn't execute well enough. Ohio State and Oregon were longshots but all of the other games were very winnable - Iowa on road would have been tough but we should have absolutely won the Cal and Northwestern games and be sitting at 9-3.

The home and away difference was also glaring and pointed to mental or preparation issues.

It’s harder for every team to win on the road.
If you flipped home road this team probably isn’t 7-5 IMO
Because I don’t think they’re beating Oregon, Ohio state, or Iowa at home.

Maybe flip the cal and northwestern games….
Maybe flip all the home games except northwestern state

I went B. Yes the D was worse than expected. As was the run game. Yes, they squeaked out some wins, but the middle of the B1G is tight. IMO, there’s no material difference between teams like MN, PSU, Illinois, NW, Michigan, Nebraska, and Washington. Maybe Rutgers is in there too, and towards the end of the season, even MSU (should’ve beat Iowa and currently curb-stomping Maryland).

I wanna see 11-1 as much as anyone, but a winning B1G record with wins against Nebraska and Wisconsin will keep me warm at night this winter lol.

Voted C with a caveat of it being a C+, close to a B-. If we're going with the grading percentage, I'd say it's like a 78% or 79% (C), not quite 80% (B).

Win either Cal or Northwestern and it would be in B territory. Win both and it would be a B+ for sure. Unfortunate to drop those. The good news is they did enough to keep an 8 win total on the table.

Damn, if the Gophs have a FG kicker, they could be tied with Iowa and probably USC in the conference standings.

Beating Wisconsin alone is almost a B by itself. Finishing 5 and 4 in an 18 team Big Ten drags it to a B for me. Kicking Nebraska was also satisfying.
Yes, losing to Cal and NW are PJ traits....coulda pretty easily been 9 and 3, so it's frustrating but...
If I said C it would be because we got demolished by Iowa, Oregon and Ohio State. Win one on occasion but be competitive almost all the time against top teams.

If I only saw the record I’d maybe vote B, but with how well positioned we were to get to 8 regular season wins I will say C. Freshman quarterback, I get it - but the defense wasn’t able to do its part and took a step back.
Home games were a hell of a lot of fun!

I went with B. We started a freshman QB in the B1G and had a winning record. We left some meat on the bone, don't get me wrong. But we had the same record we had last year with a bunch of guys that went pro, including a QB that's starting an NFL game tomorrow. I'm not sure we had the talent we had last year, and we had the same regular season record. I'll take it as above average.

B- to C+, most likely because we lost to Cal and Northwestern, two games the Gophers could have won. I say B minus because we won all the home games, whipped Nebraska and Wisconsin. Would have been a shit out today with the illegal touching ruled incorrectly a touchdown. Inconsistency due to some youth cost the Gophers two W's in the win column.

I grade on a curve given that OSU, Oregon and Michigan are in a different stratosphere. A winning BG10 record and Axe in the case is a B. Beat Iowa and Northwestern and it would be an A.

C for Meh.... They didnt beat anybody they shouldn't have. I'll change that to a B with a dominant bowl victory.

B - we knew going into this season that the OL experience and WR talent was not that great. We also knew the CB room was inexperienced and lost a lot of talent. I, like many here, hoped that somehow the OL and WR rooms would be better than expected and that somehow the CB room would be covered up by the great safeties we have. In the end it didn't happen and the inexperience of our defensive coaching unit showed.

If we can keep this team together - all we need is one big transfer portal WR get and perhaps a CB. This team has a chance to be a 10 win team next year. QB deveopment was great, DL can be a nightmare next year if Smith comes back and the back end help should be there. I like what nexxt year could be and we should be thankful that is 7-4 is our new floor that is amazing.

C.

Nebraska was the only game where this team looked good (NW State doesn't count) all year. Every other team we beat didn't reach bowl eligibility.....and we still needed to scrape by a few of them AT HOME. Meanwhile......we got our asses beat a few times. What I'm trying to say is that our record is product of an extremely fortunate schedule.

Said a month and a half ago that a 7-5 finish would be a ho-hum type of season (due to quality of the wins and losses). I stick by that.

I think this team actually overachieved…

This could have been a 3 or 4 win team and a “rebuilding” year, but this team gritted out a lot of wins 👍🏻
If we were in a re-building season and win 3 games with this schedule, then I would be on the 'fire PJ' bandwagon. If a 3-4 win season is an actual possibility this late into his time here, I don't know why we would keep him.

This was not a strong team obviously and this team's stats and ratings reflect that but this team frequently made plays when they had to and that allowed them to win 5 conference games instead of 2 or 3 (the Michigan State performance late in regulation and overtime was a prime example of that). Yes, the Gophers played more than their fair share of bad conference teams but they didn't finish among them.

Agreed. No shame in taking advantage of the schedule that was given to us. Just think that this was a 'C' season. We beat the bottom feeders and pulled off a nice win against Nebraska. Nothing to write home about. I'll reassess after the bowl game.

It's a C for me. This should be an 8 win regular season team, that NW loss was awful. Win the bowl, get to 8. Future looks bright with Drake under center!

I predicted 7 and they won 7. Could have won 9 but could have lost 8 just as easy.

Overall 7-5 and going undefeated at home is not all that bad. I gave a B but would have given a B minus or C plus if that was an option.
About spot on with what I’d say

C+. Slightly above average but 8+ wins would have been better with a pretty favorable schedule.
