How good is Trevor?

I'm in love with Mbakwe as much as the next guy, but lets tone it down a little here. Before he's even played a game in the Big 10, we have him as the best PF in the league. I think we need to be a little careful with calling him quicker and better than Sullinger and Lauderdale.

Why?? Not only is he quicker and better, but he's smarter, a superior dancer and more handsome.

I would hope he's better than Lauderdale after all of this

Sorry BGF Mbakwe already has a girlfriend. However you could put your name on the waiting list in case he changes his mind and plays both offense and defense.

Trevor

I think Trevor can get you 12-13 pts a game and 8-9 rebs.. He will do the dirty work and bring some toughness to the team.

He will play bigger then he is. He will own the board on the defensive end. On the offensive end he will gets boards and go back up and dunk it in someones face. He plays with a little edge.

His game on O and D is within 10 feet of the hoop. He will protect the hoop on the D end with some blocks. On offense put backs and his phyiscal/athletic ability is where his points will come from.

Don't mean to barge in but-

Ha-Ha-Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! :D

Favre.Thome.Mbakwe.

For a few days all seems right with the world.

His biggest assets: He has a year's worth of frustration, of waiting, of only practicing, of worry, of anger to release. I believe the rim is in for "it". I expect him to play with great passion. He has two years ( I hope it is two) to setup the rest of his life.

We'll find out starting in November. Looking forward to seeing Trevor play vs. major competition for an entire season.

I didnt give it to him, so he got it from here or a friend gave it to him

Hahahaha, that's great. There's no doubt that the Gopher players look at this site. At least for a while out of curiosity. I'm sure Maverick loves the fan base so far...

So Trevor now has this as is facebook profile picture. Did he get it from here or the other way around? Either way I like it.

Trevor simply walks into Mordor.

i get the feeling trevor is a bigger, faster, stronger, better version of damian johnson.

scary.

For those of you who have not seen Trevor play you are in for a treat. He is extremely athletic, very strong and very aggressive. He hustle's like crazy and wants every loose ball and rebound. As stated above, he does play with an attitude and I say that in a positive way. His offensive game is limited in terms of range, but he has very quick and strong low post moves. The Williams arena crowd will go crazy every time he grabs a rebound and throws it down right in the face of a defender. I aslo think Trevor is going to score a fair number of fast break baskets as he runs the floor and finishes in the same way that Rodney does (only with more force). I can't wait to see Trevor during his first game at Williams.

Trevor probably is a bigger, better, stronger version of Damion Johnson and fills in that void just fine. However, love him or hate him, who fills Westbrooks void for this year?

Hopefully no one. I'd rather have more team chemistry this year. Devoe and Blake can provide plenty of scoring from the guard positions and an improved Colt and Ralph plus the addition of Trevor will provide scoring, rebounding, and defense from the big guys. Rodney, Nolen, and Hollins will get their share as well. It'll be a team effort which is fine by me.

Fare response. I personally agree with you and hope to see growth in Devoe, Colt and Ralph. However I also hope to see even more from Rodney. If he playes to his potential, he can make this team much better than last year. Trevor will make us better, Rodney could make us great.

Rodney needs to vision himself as a player who can drive and shoot off the dribble. He either takes a three or wants to dunk.

Totally agree. As athletic as he is, he doesn't do a good job of making his own shot, and he often looks off balance if he has to shoot while moving. Hopefully between now and the season he works hard on slashing. I'd much rather that he improved markedly on getting in the lane, driving, cutting and making his own shot than his outside shot. We have outside shooters. We don't seem to have too many people who can get to the rack and actually finish.

i did see one play though where he took a guy off the dribble, then went between his legs and took a stepback 2 that rimmed out, even though it didnt go down he didnt lose his handle, and didnt brick or airball it. Why is a missed shot significant? ive never seen him with those kid of gaurd moves before.

If you're referring to the shot I think you are, I remember it to be a TERRIBLE shot.

Early in the shot clock, no flow to the offense, dribble to his left trying to get past a defender, didn't have the muscle for it, was forced further out, so shot a 18 ft fadeaway, fading both backwards and to his left, not rimming out if I remember, but clanking off the front of the rim.

Bottom line, if he tries that in a Big 10 game against Michigan State with 5 minutes left and a tie game, he's riding the bench the rest of the game. I understand UBC isn't MSU, but you have to start developing a concept of what is a good shot and what isn't in these games so when it matters, you are ready.

I really hope Rodney develops in the NBA lottery pick that many on this site and some analysts say he will; he has the potential to do it IMO. However, in just watching last night's game, I saw nothing in his 26 minutes of play that looked different to the weaker, typical-freshman type year he had last year. I know it's one game, but I was hoping to see an improvement, albeit however slight, in either his shot form, ability to get to the hoop off the bounce, defensive rebounding, understanding of spacing, etc. and I just didn't. Let's go Rodney, we need you this year!

Have you not been paying attention to this thread??? TREVOR fills the void!

Just the sight of Trevor makes the void quickly fill itself

Trevor is not a scorer. I would be shocked if he averages over 10 pts a game. His game is a lot of putbacks and hustle. I'll take it and his rebounding and blocks anyday.
