High school state tournament

Siyani Chambers assist to turnover ratio: 1.7 (38 minute per game)
Andre Hollins assist to turnover ratio: 1.5 (30 minutes per game)

I love Andre Hollins, but let's stop giving Tubby a pass on his inability to recruit a real point guard. He had Chambers in his back yard and he missed on another kid from edina this year. Why the heck won't he recruit a point guard? He's also missed on like 5 big men this year but we won't mention that. Tubby is a mess right now.

Chambers is also shooting 44 percent from three this year. Yes, in a poor conference, but you can't tell me he isn't worth a scholarship offer.

We won't mention that?? This board has been filled with posters bashing Tubby for the past 2 months. Woodward will get destroyed in the Big Ten just wait and see.

I think Tubby is taking the, "If I don't get anyone and bank these scholarships, they can't call me a bad recruiter." approach... at least until 2014 when he misses on everyone.

Not easy when teams you're competing against have better things to offer.

A lot of the guys that we're missing on don't have a ton more to offer. I'm not complaining about the Andre Hollins and Austin Hollins of the world, I'm complaining about the Mavs, Welchs, Ingrams, Otos of the world.

So he's better than Dre? Are you drunk?

Chambers is a PG, Dre a shooting guard, they really could have used him this year to spell and to play PG, it has been a position of need for a long time, probably would have won 2/3 more B1G games with him. I feel it is more of a matter of Tubby just doesn't think you need a PG, he has yet to sign one at the U.

Never said he isn't worth a scholarship offer. But you would probably agree that if Chambers were playing in the Big Ten, his AST/TO ratio would be worse, right? It's hard to say exactly what it would be, but just for fun let's say it would be 1.5, the same as Andre.

With those numbers, Andre Hollins gets ripped all the time for his turnovers and AST/TO ratio, yet some people are acting like Chambers is putting up big time numbers. I just think some people over inflate numbers and production of non-Gophers compared to Gophers. He's had a few good games against solid competition, but he's also done pretty poorly in some as well.

Personally, I would be just fine with a 1.5 AST/TO ratio from Chambers in the Big Ten because it probably means he has more assists than Andre (and more turnovers as well probably). I haven't watched enough of him this year to see what kind of turnovers he has been committing this year either. A lot of Andre's are simply bonehead passes to the other team, but I also think he has done pretty well this year and really has not gotten that much criticism. I think he's gotten more criticism for disappearing from a handful of games in the Big Ten. I'm not sure if Chambers are the same. I'm not of the belief that all turnovers are the same. There are good turnovers and bad turnovers.

However, the main reason I would want Chambers (or really any point guard that can play) is because it means Andre plays the two and Joe Coleman is coming off the bench. I think we would have won 2 or 3 more games this season with a real point guard.

I like pretty good at lifetime. Can I have a scholarship ? Competition doesn't matter right?

I'm consistently reminded of the Brian Scalabrine tape of him running people off the court. But he sucks right? Check his NBA numbers compared to a d-league player. The D- league players are clearly better.

That all makes sense. I wonder if the coaches felt he wouldn't have been any better than Maverick this and next year and with us trying to land Tyus or another top PG next year, they felt it wasn't worth the chance. It very well could come back to haunt us, but I'm not sure what most people thought of Chambers out of HS.

Maybe Chambers wanted to get a better education at Harvard too? I love the U, but if that's his priority, it is freaking Harvard.

I think the mute button was invented because of Dave Lee. He is soooo horrible. He must think he's doing radio because he does nothing but tell us the obvious. Coffey sounds like Crackhead Bob. Can't we do better than this?? We need a Frankie Beutel or a Dick Nesbitt or Dick Enroth to come along.

Reid Travis and DeLasalle just getting underway against Austin for the AAA championship, Tyus Jones and Apple Valley will follow that game and both can be seen on 45 TV for anyone that wants to check it out.

Thanks for the heads up, going to watch now! Excited to watch Travis play hopefully will get to see him as a Gopher too.

Congratulations to the Minnehaha Redhawks. I'm friends with the Pryor family whose son, John, was a key component to their win. John is going to Lipscomb University next season on a D1 baseball scholarship. He is a lefty who throws in the low-mid 90s. Wish he would have picked the U of MN, but Lipscomb has gone to the College World Series a few times with their present coach. Also nice to see Randy Carter's son doing well and playing for the Redhawks. So far, today's games have been fantastic. Looking forward to the AAA and AAAA games tonight.

Haven't heard too much on Sacar Anim but he has caught my eye a few times this week when watching DeLasalle play and I think he will be a good prospect and a guy to watch for future recruiting

Which number is he?

I've been impressed by number 25 for Delasalle. Smart passer and defender. Keeps the ball moving out there.

Travis is also a better ball handler than I expected. He is very impressive. I can see why he is so highly hated.

I am trying to watch the game but it seems like a time warp and I am watching on my parent's TV in the 70's. High definition it ain't.

Anim is #15, #25 is Geno Crandall and he is a Junior. That is one of the 1st things I noticed with Travis as well, saw him go coast to coast a couple times and was very impressed. Also seems like he has a good shooting touch as well and is pretty good from the free throw line.

Yup. He will definitely be on the radar. Will probably get an offer provided he continues developing.

Austin fans chanting "daddy's money" at DLS?

Way to make yourself look super ignorant hahaha.

Travis would be a great pickup for the maroon and gold.

Just mentioned that Quincy Lewis is apparently out with the Gophers at the NCAA tournament. Did he end up with a job with the Gophers, there as a fan?

Quincy was hired last November by the Athletic Department as an Associate Development Officer. Duties are essentially fund raising.
