Gophers-Wildcats Game/Postgame Thread

Obviously Andre Hollins was the player of the game for us. He seems to have no fear and he should continue to get better and better. Would have liked to see him get a few assists, but he only had 1 turnover so I'm fine with his ball handling.

We did a great job on the boards, especially EE. 10 rebounds (6 offensive) was huge. We out-rebounded them 41-24.

Austin Hollins gets more and more comfortable with his shot every game.

Go get Michigan! I think we've got a shot.

I agree with everything you said. Not sure what was more frustrating, the officiating or Chip's lack of a right hand. I've been a big Chip backer and think he needs to play more, but either needs to develop his weak hand, or pull the ball out and reset.

I feel bad for Northwestern. The look on Bill Carmody's face at the end made me a bit sad. We all know how crushing defeats like that feel. I wish they could have drawn Illinois so I could have cheered for them. Regardless if they deserved it or not, it would have been nice to see them make it in.

I couldn't care less about Chips lack of a right hand in this instance, the bone head play was going for those two forced layups in the first place. In both instances he could have and should have put the brakes on and pulled the ball back out. I almost screemed when Dakich was praising Dre for having great PG instincts, because he simply doesn't, but he correctly stated that Chip has no clue what he is doing out there other than trying to score. Dude is a gunner through and through.

Chip has some skill and a little bit of Westbrook in him, unfortunately the best part of Westy was the fact he could hit freethrows when he forced the ball to the hole and drew a foul, Chip cannot do that. Chip consistantly passes on going up strong on the right side of the hoop and draw a foul to try for an acrobatic lefthanded floater that sometimes falls. Love his aggressiveness because it's usually contagious for guys like Joe and Dre, but Chip and Dre need to learn the game a bit....

They got in with 21 wins in 2009-10. If they get to the Big Ten Championship game that would put them at 22 wins. Why wouldn't that be enough?

I do not think any team has ever won 4 games to win the B1G tournament.

Apparently you failed reading comprehension... winning 4 games to get to the B1G tournament.

If you go 6-12 in your conference, you need to win the conference tournament to get a bid.

Right now vs. Big Ten comp they are 7-12. If they won the next three they would be 10-12 (22-13) going into the championship game. You don't think that would put us back on the bubble? I think that would at least put us in the last four in catagory prior to playing the championship game.

It looked to me like he was one on one in each situation, but agree that he made the second one much more difficult than it needed to be. I prefer that to the Michigan State game approach of running down the shot clock and taking a last second, forced shot.

It is fascinating to me how Tubby's coaching style seems to change once he gets to the BTT. Over the years, he has allowed Bostick, Devoe and Dre to play much more aggressively than in the regular season. The BTT style would appear to fit their skill set much better; would like to see more of it during the regular season.

We have just clubbed to death the cute little seal that is Northwestern. In slow motion. In front of everyone. No one was pulling for us today. Northwestern would have been a great story that makes you warm and fuzzy, everyone loves the ” never been to the tourney” angle but…we beat the little seal to death on national TV. Let’s go get Michigan.

great post-
