Gophers need to name football coach soon, Tracy Claeys says

A lot of players, and incoming recruits supporting Claeys on Twitter. My feed is crowded with them. Needs to happen soon. This staff needs to be kept together, he deserves a shot. This staff as a whole has turned this program around, and as long as the needle continues to point up, they need to stay here

I'm so irritated at this point I'm kind of hoping he beats Iowa and Illinois then turns the Gophers down and takes the whole staff to Illinois. It would serve Kaler right.

Umm, it's literally only been two weeks.

Recruits and players are always going to be in favor of the status quo in every situation that doesn't involve some sort of mistreatment. I don't mind if people say they want to give this staff more time, but the idea that they've "turned this program around" or that the needle "continues to point up" simply doesn't pass the smell test. The best year this staff has had was 4-4 against power 5 schools, and the Gophers are currently 1-7 in their last 8 against power 5 schools. The peak of this program under this staff was undoubtedly winning at Nebraska last year, but there hasn't been much to smile about since then. We're two weeks removed from one of the biggest coaching blunders in recent memory, and Claeys and company didn't exactly ace the "time and score" situations last week either.

That said, you basically have to give him the job unless there is some sort of super secret AD search going on now.

Damn straight. The improvements in this program go beyond wins and losses. We've lost three close games this year that we shouldn't have really even been in. Unfortunately, a lot of "fans" can't see it because they live in the "more me now" generation. We're about a half dozen plays from 7-2.

Keep crying, crybabies. It's what you do.
