Oto should be allowed to finish his career as an end of bench guy next year. He propably could play overseas after that in a low level league for a few years. You are never going to convince me that Oto has worse knees than Dwade but Wade will propably win another nba championship this year. I have never read that Oto has had a scope to repair cartledge or clean up cartiledge, since he has been here. He has been an active participant in all basketball related activities since he has been here and I cannot recall him sitting out any games in season or summer league or practices. I have not noticed any decline in his athletic ability like a DWade or Brondon Roy or Greg Oden.
This notion that one can wake up one day and discver that he has end stage knees is ridiculous. Pitino wants to use that scholly to swing for the fences which says a lot about his character.

I have a hard time believing if Oto really felt he was being screwed in this situation that he would agree to be part of the program next year.

The U has to apply to the NCAA to get the scholarship waiver. How much BS can they get away with? Will the NCAA make sure the injury is legit? Will the NCAA just roll over and give the U what they want, like they did with Buckles?

What is the distinction between the dpodoll award and the parski award?
The parski award died along with parski. The dpodoll award will continue ad infinitum.
Oto has no choice in the matter. The verdict has been rendered and he took the best available option. I seriously doubt Tubby has engaged in this type of behavior during his illlustrious career. I bet Mav is breathing a huge sigh of relief that he escaped this last spring. I guess that his knees were too healthy.
Kinda seems like you have a corncob shoved in an unpleasant place.

I am still commissioner of nominations to and for the dpodoll award, because dpodoll established the eligibility for that.

Pitino is in the business of winning games, his fate will be decided on that, not by how nice he is, if you don't like what you call the "cut throat" aspect of Major D1 sports than there are plenty of MIAC and local high schools that would love your support. Oto does have a choice, if he wants to play, there are 350 other d1 schools, one would give him a scholly. You have no idea if he's hurt or not so your statements on the matter are just preposterous as you believe Pitino's are.

So you are quite sure Kevin Payton just didn't want to return for his senior year? He just wanted to move on with his life? Don't remember any injuries or him coaching either.
I personally buy into the Oto injury angle. He played too much at the start of the year to be run off (unless he was a bad team-mate which he clearly isn't).
PS the Dewayne Wade angle is ridiculous. If Oto was going to get 10 million to play next year, he might make a different choice. However, he probably has come to grips that he won't make much money in basketball and would rather be cautious so he can live a normal life.

It takes time for people on this board to understand what you are saying here. Richard's role models are his dad who has not said a single lie in his life and BD who cheats on the recruiting trail a lot worse than Sampson. Richard will tell you what you like to hear just like his dad. Lets hope that he won't recruit like BD.
He may be hurt but there is no way that he has a career ending injury. I agree that he could try and play elsewhere maybe DII , and he is propably making a wise choice by getting a head start on his coaching career. However, do not try and fool the public with this career ending injury stuff. This is borderline Bil Clinton. Believe what I say and be sure not to use common sense. There is such a thing as credibility and that rings loud with current and prospective players.
What are you talking about? If he could still play, he could transfer to any school that would have him. He will have a degree in May and would be eligible immediately at the D-I level. So, if he thought he could play (and someone would give him a chance if he could), he'd simply move on.
How do you think Travis Busch ended up at Colorado State?

Can you imagine 2 players transfering at the end of this season? Nothing would have happened. Players left the program under Tubby too. Who cared???? He just got murdered, that's all.

Big difference. Contrbutors such as Iverson, Joseph and Carter left, along with an up and comer in Cobbs. Not a guy (Wally) whos playing time looked bleak, at best, and Oto who is injured

I'm not supporting jumpstop, but really...ban a guy for having an opinion that you don't like? H3ll, you and your Gestapo would be the only person's left on the GH.
Truth on this issue is that if Oto had a chance at playing, he and the coaching staff would want him to play. You can't replace the experience that he would represent as a fifth year senior. The claims of the coaching staff and the desire to get the scholarship exemption seem to be 100% legit.
