One wonders how long this has affected him. He was a pretty good player for the first 10-15 games or so.

Can I ask a favor of the board? In this thread please keep the wisecracks about Oto to yourself. Let's not ruin it by taking potshots at him. Let's thank him for busting his a*s for his 4 years in the Gopher program.
Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow.

Wow, that's a pretty awful change in circumstances for him. He went from starting on a potential tournament team and probably thinking he would start next year to being done playing bball and no longer having a scholarship.
Oto busted his tail off, to varying degrees of success. Early in this season, in particular, he was a big reason for the team's early success. I appreciate his effort, his great attitude on the court, and I hope this knee injury doesn't limit his mobility in life as he moves into bigger and better things. Thanks Oto!!
I have read on numerous threads about how worthless Oto is on the floor. The guy was playing handicapped, and our wondrous GH experts bad mouthed the kid. GH'ers who bad mouthed him should be ashamed of themselves and shut the fuch up.
I'm not saying this happened with Oto & Pitino, but got me thinking...
A player in Oto's situation:
- Graduating academically
- Has a year of scholarship left
- Probably not going to make a career as a player
Why not use your last year's scholarship as leverage in ensuring a job on a collegiate coaching staff immediately out of college? "Coach, I'll give up my scholarship if you give me a job." - Seems win/win from both sides.
Has anyone heard of this happening?
With Oto and Wally gone, how many scholarships we got for next year? Malik, Austin and Maverick are all seniors but not sure about scholarships.

There is no way that Oto has a career ending injury. A person doesn't run, move, and jump like he does with end stage arthritic knees. All of a sudden he can't play anymore and he didn't suffer an ACL,PCL, knee dislocation or major meniscal tear is ludicrous. This is all about Pitino pulling this guys scholarship. There is no way the NCAA should keep him on scholarship based on medical incapacity. I will bet that he has more articular cartiledge in his knees than 75% of nba players. You can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. Pitino is cut throat and I hope the other guys on the team and potential recruits are taking notice of his win at all cost attitude even if it means throwing one of his players under the bus.

I don't agree with everything jumpstop is saying, but I'd be lying if I said some of those same thoughts didn't cross my mind. Major-college basketball is a cut-throat business, and we have a young & hungry coach (for which I'm thankful). It's not a stretch for someone to think this.
but it is a stretch to say it is fact without having any true knowledge.
I seriously doubt jumpstop has a medical degree and has looked at Oto's medical records/pics.
