Gophers 2016 Spring Game Recap, Reactions and Analysis Thread

Gray was listed at 250 his Sr year. He was listed at 255 last year for the Bills. He was basically the same size in college with NFL athleticism. Chris (listed at 223) is faster, not more athletic.

Given that Streveler isn't one of the top 6 WRs on a team that is average at best at the position and has barely ever played a snap at the position in an actual game, I'd say any NFL talk is a bit premature.
x2 Gray made plays and was a difference maker teams had to plan for. Streveler has done nothing. Maybe he will but right now there is no reason to even compare them.

I think he would have had a better chance at success if the position change had happened earlier. We just didn't have the QB depth to make the change unfortunately.

I agree partially. The position experimentation should have been at safety.

Sid chimes in:

• One encouraging aspect from Saturday’s Gophers spring football game was the blocking of Jonah Pirsig, who was hurt a lot last year, and junior college transfer Vincent Calhoun, who were responsible for Rodney Smith running for almost 100 yards. The biggest surprise to me in the spring game was the running of redshirt freshman James Johannesson, who ran 22 times for 130 yards. North Dakota tried hard to recruit Johannesson, but he wanted to play in the Big Ten.

Go Gophers!!

Not sure comparing CS5 and MG5 is fair. Chris doesn't have the size or athleticism that Gray did/does. Gray was an NFL prospect from day 1. Although I love Chris, he just isn't.

For the love of God, enough with the players initials and their number!

Count me in the camp that also doesn't get the comparison between the two right now. Streveler has been a major bust to this point in his college career, hopefully he is able to find a way to see the field and help the team but to this point he hasn't done anything. As a redshirt Junior if Streveler doesn't buts through this year odds are pretty good it just isn't ever going to happen. Whether it was at QB or receiver Gray was still a starter and key player on the team.

different upside different rated players.

I am not sure what Streveler runs in the 40 but its probably 4.55. Being 6-2 and not 6-4, I imagine his lateral quickness could be better than Gray's, especially the 250lb version.

Streveler wasn't as highly recruited or rated anywhere near as Gray, different world's really. Streveler consensus 3 star, listed as 40th best dual threat qb. 1530th rated prospect in nation according to 247.

Gray was 3rd rated qb in nation on rivals, 14th on scout, and 13 on espn...for all qb's. I think he was a 4.48 40 yard guy when he was coming out of high school at 220lbs. I think he put on too much weight and that's why his 40 time suffered at the combine. 4.77.
