Did I say that? I don't think so. The poster "dsigma" seems to have inside information.
If we were signing a player- well that would be good news. If we were losing a player, that would be bad news. He said it was up to the board to decide. Then he follows up with Christie probably not going pro but likely transferring. Well if that is the news- everybody would think that's bad news. So it doesn't seem like the core news is player related but something else. I think Christie is loyal to Ben, so I surmised that something could be going on there. What? I have no idea.

I don't want Ben to leave or be fired at this point in time. Not at all.

If it is an asst coach, the one we replace him with should 100% be someone who is bringing someone with. It might not look or be great but that's the world we live in. So if we had to hire dad/brother/friend to get player X so be it.

Also it's a message board, said user could be totally blowing smoke.

'Buckle up' implies it's bigger news than an assistant coach or a low recruit.

Maybe Ben has been searching for another head coaching opportunity. He'd be crazy not to. Take a good job at a non-P5 for now. And prove himself. He assembled a good team here...and shouldn't be the fall-guy for our disastrous money situation.

Better off getting fired than leaving for a lesser job.

I'm settling in on the possibility that the news could be, Ben is accepting Carrington back. That probably would be taken as good, bad, indifferent- depending on viewpoint.

AND, not everybody transferring is going to get paid a lot of money....probably the majority are not. So, it's back to selling your vision. No, we are not going to out recruit Arkansas or Kentucky or 25 others but there are 250 other teams in our pool...beat them. We have the Big Ten to offer. We have A+ facilities to offer. We have a game venue that rocks if you win...sell it!

Pretty easy to make a really vague cryptic comment, wait for something to happen, and then claim you were right.
