Gopher Hockey Recruiting

I don't know hockey NIL dynamics or the Gophers plans...

April 7 Gophers sign Wood.

April 8 Wisconsin signed Scarfone.

Maybe that was a coincidence. Maybe Gophers did not have Scarfone as option 2 if Wood didn't sign.

Interesting turn of events. Gophers bring in a number 19 overall pick entering his third season and Eiserman drafted 20.

Gopher roster first rounders by year. You can see the pop for Lucia after the two titles and then his downhill slide which was matched on the ice. You can see the current pop for Motzko after what should have been a title if not two. Now we'll start to see if he can maintain.

Likely lose Snuggerud, Wood and Rinzel next year and I don't see a single first rounder in the pipeline including Mooney.

Yep. Shut it down. Now. Let's play Club Hockey.

Pahlsson 7th round to Nashville. I think overagers working their tail off and finally getting drafted third time around is actually more impressive and cool than 3rd or 4th rounders straight out of HS. Nice job!

Maybe the gophers will actually score in a shootout this year. That would be a change of pace.

I’ve said before and will say again, I hope our guys spend zero practice time on shootouts. They don’t impact pairwise and aren’t used in the postseason - I don’t care if we miss the next 30 attempts.

Shootouts can impact your team's season by making the road in the conference playoffs harder. The Gophers performance in shootouts and the players selected to shoot many times have been unacceptable.

Wood's attempt looked to be against a beer league goalie.

Agreed you need to have the ability to grab extra points and winning the conference can add momentum as well as gives you the best shot to be playing on the last weekend, which is huge in avoiding rust.

Woods move was a good one regardless of the goalie.

JP Hurlbert down to Michigan and wisconsin
Tynan Lawrence taken visits to BC, BU, and UND

Getting Berchild is critical.

To you guys who know Berchild/Trottier/Moe better than me, what level of player are they? I assume none are a Cooley/Vanek/Kessel level player, but are they somewhat elite level players?

Well, the rich kids often like Notre Dame a lot because of the prestige. Berchild is loaded too but not the grandson of an NHLer so we'll see.

ND and Michigan with 5 stars so far today. Nyman to UM. Their recruiting has been INSANE.

Kam Hendrickson to Princeton. May be why he didn’t end up at a lot of other hockey schools if he was working towards an Ivy

Meh. Let's see who our next 24 year old just decent Canadian goalie will be.
