GAME #27: Gophers (17-9, 6-7) v. Illinois (14-12, 3-10) [BTN, 2/19, 8:00PM]

Malik Smith comes in, bricks a long 3 and gives up 2 open looks to guy who is on fire tonight. He absolutely kills us when he's not making shots, because it affects his defense too.

He should be benched the rest of the night - been by far the team's worst player on both ends of the court tonight.

Malik has a very low basketball IQ, even when he is on, he takes dumb shots, most fans just forgive him because they go in

This all started when Rich thought it was a good idea to play Mav and Malik together. Started Illinois' run that's carrying over to the 2nd half.

Is this the worst game of the year? I couldn't watch chaminade but this is way worse than Arkansas

Well, Syracuse lost to an atrocious Boston College team. Their only loss is worse than any loss we have or can possibly have.

Could quite literally be the worst game the Gophers have played this year.

Just looked at the stats...our shooting is atrocious, but theirs is off the charts from behind the arc! Still have time!

We don't deserve to make the tournament. Nobody to blame but themselves. This about seals it now...

they all need to calm the **** down, plenty of time, stop taking stupid shots, stop making stupid passes, calm down and go inside

Turning point of the game - EE's missed FTs - got him taken out even though he was pretty effective (tho not scoring), and a slow Walker back in the game. Got the team desperate too, and gave Illinois confidence.

Alright, I'm done watching this effort. If this is what they're going to do against the worst team in the B1G at home, then they aren't worth my time.

Another rough one for Mathieu.

Could really use Welch tonight!

So you're a troll as well as a hack, fraud, and Teague conspiratorialist.

It's too bad you didn't install the option to vote on a collective ban for some posters when you wrote here. We could've dumped you long ago.

Season defining game and no one shows up. HOW?

I'd like to be wrong. I don't think I am.

Well, as far as this game is concerned, you're looking more right. Any upsets put us right back in the picture. Heck, given that we are in the "safe with work to do" category, this loss isn't necessarily damning even if we don't pull an upset.

Great game to have important recruits at.

I believe this is how Tim Brewster recruited "well" his first full year - all the recruits figured they'd step in and play right away - same case could be made for some here, after this debacle.

35 effin points. And that's after scoring a pretty quick 14.

This team doesn't have a lot of talent. It shouldn't be that much of a surprise that they are playing bad.

Big lead turned into a big deficit. It's the last two games at Iowa, only against a lesser team and at home.
