GAME #27: Gophers (17-9, 6-7) v. Illinois (14-12, 3-10) [BTN, 2/19, 8:00PM]

I just saw the worst team in the big ten and it was not the visiting team. Worst game ive seen in awhile.

Ok, I'm tired of Austin. We won't miss him. Seriously.

Illinois makes everything
we miss everything
we play totally stupid

Maybe they were all out at the vu last night kinda like in Varsity Blues.

We basically let Illinois come into the barn and dictate how the game was going to be played. They got a lot of open shots and we didn't. They got most of the loose balls. They made smarter plays. This one hurts.

I don't think Richard needs to worry about people penciling wins and losses any more.

We have some rough games and some sloppy play this year, but nothing close to this. This is the first time all year I have watched them play and thought "what a bunch of losers." Their lack of pride, effort, heart, or focus tonight has been embarrassing and inexcusable.

Look at it this way, GopherHole faithful. Any recruit in the house is absolutely sure he can walk right in here and play next year.

I'm more tired of Andre than I am of Austin. Oh wait, but I'm tired of Malik and Eliason as well. The cycle just never ends.

He's the player you single out in this performance? He's the only one that has attacked the basket all night.

True, but he made two of the worst errors I've seen in a while. Just boneheaded times ten.

You haven't been watching him this whole season have you? His turn overs are alarming. He zones out and practically hands the ball to the other team.

Bad Night for the Seniors

Malik and Austin killed us tonight. When nobody can hit a shot, plus Li'l Dre gives you nothing, plus you have a ton of stupid turnovers, plus you give up open threes then decide to change it up and start giving up layups, plus don't hustle, well, you'll have a tough time winning a game. My only hope is that we play up to our competition in one of the next three and get a shock win. But I can't say I'm confident after this absolutely atrocious performance.

See ya in 3 days

I doubt I'll be able to do it, but I would really like to avoid this site for 3 days as this place is gonna be a dumpster fire. Terrible game no doubt, but not worth some of the idiocy and overreaction that will no doubt be spewed from some of you.

Enjoy the process fellas, this was a flawed team from day one. Illinois is flawed too, but they decided to play d all game and we decided not to... Next game.

Nope, McNeil and Austin were only 2 players to show up today

you can't even make this up... Mo has softest hands in the world. My daughter could rip the ball away from him. Austin plays like an 8th grader sometimes, and we might be the slowest team in the BIG. And why does someone light us up from 3 every game? I don't think the 2-3 works very well when you have slow defenders in the BIG. 1-3-1 maybe??? I dunno. Disgusting. NIT and that's it for this year. Goodness....

We all know how bad the ball handling is but the passing is inept right now (counting the NW game as well). No one can handle the ball without turning it over except for McNeil and all he does is get rid of the ball asap.

So that had nothing to do with the seniors.

This may be true, but overall, he does not turn the ball over very much for how much he plays. 1.7 turnovers when averaging over 33 minutes a game is pretty good.

I get it. He has been a huge disappointment. But he has been better than anyone else we have at that position.

After a few games I though it was dumb luck but now it's a trend. Our 3 point defense is awful and we give up way too many open looks. We were the perfect cure for Illinois' shooting woes tonight.

Sure we lost tonight, its basketball I can handle it. The thing that gets me is the pouty/pissy attitude that Mathieu has after every foul or when something doesn't go his way. Good God quit doing it, it brings the whole team down when you act that way.
