GAME #26: Gophers (16-9, 5-7) @ Northwestern (12-13, 5-7) [BTN, 5:00PM]

I love the "fans" on here worried so much about whether or not I post on here more than the fact that your team just upset NU. Nice!

Now we can take care of business and get to 9-9 by just protecting our home court. I just have this feeling that the Iowa game is going to be a lot like the Indiana game from last year. Lots of emotion will be on display at our house.

Yes, NU is better. This is an upset. Not a huge one, but an upset indeed.

Just get out of here. If you honestly think that's an upset you have absolutely no knowledge of college basketball. Northwestern is a team of un-athletic white guys who can shoot threes and waste clock.

I think NU has better players than Minnesota, or at least even. Beating a team on the road with comparable talent and coaching is an upset. Sorry dudes. Let's not pretend like Minnesota was expected to win this game. This program hasn't been in that position since 1996-97 (but I guess that never happened).

If we can beat Illinois Wednessday I'll officially like our chances to make the tournament. Assuming we can knock them off, we'll only need to win 1 of the final 4 games.

Debate aside, no doubt that Northwestern is a good team. So it seems with EVERY team in this dang league. 3 straight road wins at one point. A win at Madison.

There is no easy out in this frickin' conference. We knew how good the top of the conference was, but even the 12th place team will have some things to crow about. It's like commuting to work through a mine field twice a day.

THEY WERE EXPECTED TO WIN THE GAME, HENCE THE 4-POINT SPREAD IN THEIR FAVOR.

RPI, vegas, kenpom, and sagarin disagree.

Sorry Austin apologists, he should not be in at the end of games. Even when you think there is no possible way of a turnover, he finds a way.

Consistently tried to force it into the "post", no matter how well the post was guarded, how tough the pass was, or who he was trying to force it to. Just a bad all around game, and a very trying season, from a guy we all thought would be a team leader this year. Clearly he's better as a role player; but for some reason he's struggling in the new scheme in terms of comfort. Wish he'd figure it out, because at this point Pitino is out of options. Can't play Malik, can't play Oto, can't play Mav, Mo is a defensive liability and EE is an offensive liability. That doesn't leave a lot of options, so Austin can't be another "can't".

Yep. You are a troll. Go back to the Badgers' board. Mods please ban this clown.

IMO, any game we win on the road should be considered an upset based on our past.

.

Exactly right. With the improvement of Nebraska/Northwestern/Penn State, there are no easy wins anymore. Home or away.

Why are you so upset that the team won, "BigGopherFan"?

Remaining schedule:

Illinois
@Ohio State
Iowa
@Michigan
Penn State

My optimistic prediction, or what I'm hoping for is W's against Illinois, Ohio State, and Penn State to get to 9-9.

Pitino says it was one of the best defensive games they've had. Way too many SILLY turnovers.

At what point do Louisville fans start to get concerned Rick is too focused on us? Hahaha

I love this. Awesome win. Love to see the team pull out a grinder.

Man, I usually am a Austin apologist, but he played like he was brain dead tonight.

I think it's two more wins the remainder of the season. beating Ohio state on the road is going to be difficult. but we shall see. stranger things have happened. as fans, let's just take this one at a time. let's beat Illinois!!!

Pitino says it was one of the best defensive games they've had. Way too many SILLY turnovers.

Second half D was much stronger, they picked up the intensity. Agree on he turnovers, so many unforced errors.

One thing we're all missing here, because it wasn't all that noticeable for once...though the refs were often bad both ways, they were bad BOTH ways - the Gophers got a fair game called for them on the road in the B1G.

I suppose we should make a footnote; since NU isn't a big money program, the refs' incentive for bias there isn't high. I believe it was one of those places we all agreed a couple weeks back that the Gophers actually normally get a fair shake at.

A nice win for the Gophers. DeAndre steps up big time when no one else will. NU gets 2 points from their best player, Crawford, and lose their center in crunch time. I guess splitting the series means NU and the Gophers are equal, case closed. The rest of the schedule is daunting. The rest of the team needs to show up for them to have a chance.

Welcome to the trials and tribulations of being a Gopher fan Rick. It's never boring.

Survive and advance.

Let's keep 9-9 as the goal, 8-10 as the worst scenario.

Beat Illinois.

Much better chance of beating Iowa at the Barn than winning at OSU.
