I just can’t imagine him in the league with how prone to injury he seems to be. Crossing my fingers he’s ok and can rebound.
 

Is it possible this could be cramp-related instead of the seemingly obvious hammy injury?

Regardless, if there is one thing I do NOT trust about Fleck, it is his comments about injuries. In fact, his comments on Taylor could be translated to an amputation.

If it's cramp related, it would be one of the quickest cramps in a game I have ever seen

The line about it being the trainer's decision is one of the oldest ones in his book. Classic PJ

Sounds like it won't prevent him from playing against Cal. Awesome!


BUT, this guy seems to keep getting hurt. That is not a good sign. We obviously will all hope for the best

I was going off people in this thread saying he looked like he was trying to get back into the NW St game and what Fleck said in post-game.


Do people really think he's out for next week? Man ... bummer!

Nobody knows, they are just doom and glooming.
 

I guess the question I have is how are trainers handling DT in terms of during the week activity, pre game warm up/stretching, nutrition and hydration before games. It seems he has a chronic hammy situation or is impacted by preparation before games.
 

I'm going to just go out on a limb and speculate that our coaching staff/doctors are following best practices for stretching and injury prevention. Some guys are just injury prone. Just look at 50% of the Twins roster.

An indicator I've developed with Coach Fleck is how long he stays with an injured player when down and an injury timeout being enforced.

He goes out for every injured player. Sometimes short, sometimes longer.

Yesterday Coach being with Taylor was very long.

As for after it happened, Taylor did not move his right leg for an extended period. Didn't appear to be massaged or manipulated by staff while he did clutch his back thigh midway between the hip and kneecap at the start. He was not assisted once up and did slightly limp at the sideline when going to the medical tent.

So evidence suggests "something" happened to Darius as part of that last high effort to reach the pylon. It reminded me of Autman-Bell who seemed to get dinged-up with his last effort to make the play. Hard to coach this out of a player...not that you'd want to. But it does have a potential cost.

I thought the backups looked pretty good so if/when DT is back to playing shape the run game should be ok.

I never understand the irritation over speculation about injuries to one of our best players. People are gonna talk about it.

As far as not being treated with ice immediately could be either a) Boobie Miles syndrome ie DT said I’m fine refused treatment or b) icing for injuries has been more controversial in recent years or c) as some speculated cramp although the optics of pulling up and grabbing the back of the mid thigh after a long full effort run seem to better match other hamstring injuries we’ve all witnessed.

If he plays next week then mystery solved, I suppose.
