Fire Ben Johnson

The talent at those schools will funnel to the likes of MN. Still last in conference but beat everyone outside of p4.

Who said anything about worrying? Just presenting data.
I'm not sure it means we will out-recruit Marquette or Creighton. New Mexico and Colorado State? Sure. But that should already be the case.

Minnesota is going to have to pay a lot of money to attract a coach here to take this program to the top half of the Big Ten. The school also needs a new arena. My guess is most top recruits look at Williams Arena and think it's a dump with a weird floor.
Welcome back Strong! Let’s see a modicum of respect to the site owners this time around.

The arena isn’t what is holding this program back

I don’t think they fire him until the end of the year but I think it’s pretty much over now

The hope was slim even after the three game winning streak. But yeah....there's very little chance Johnson survives this off-season. Start fresh and hope that the coach who's hired has some talent to bring along.

If they don't do it in the next week, there's not much point to an in-season firing. But if they don't, Ben's job status will be the only thing that gets discussed for the next month. Even the "Poor Ben" local media is acknowledging it now. Pull the band-aid off.

So basically business as usual around here then :)

The win streak provided a couple day break at least.

Agree with Some Guy.....doubt the firing happens before the end of the season but this game should basically end the possibility of it not happening.

There is no longer any present hope for this team. The only future to this team is Asuma (who we didn't need in the second half) and whoever the new coach is. Garcia has been great but it doesn't matter to have an all conference player if the supporting cast is this bad.

The "poor Ben" media should be asked to explain why Asuma didn't play in the second half. (Or was he in at least briefly?) That's malpractice and has nothing to do with any of the excuses or limitations or other crutches.

Did Ben just forget he was on the roster? What could be have done that was even as bad as big Frank getting assessed a technical?...after which he continued to play!

Yeah that was really odd how he didn't play until very late in the game. Hopefully someone asked about it in the post game. He didn't seem injured but outside of that I really don't know why he wasn't in the second half mix, especially after being one of the few offensive options in the first half.

Just Ben coaching scared. He had the guys he prefers in the game (for whatever reason) and he just rode them into the ground because he was scared to put anyone else in. So often he speaks loud and clear to his players- I don't trust you. This was Ben in a game where he know if he lost he was done for - so he went back to his old habits.

Two crazy things for me-
1. Fox was so obviously a bad matchup in this game- yet he started the second half and it cost Ben.
2. Asuma with 8 points in the first half and getting them going to the rim, gets no PT until 2 minutes left in the second half. The guards got tired and sloppy towards the end and turned it over three straight times.

Honestly if the team finishes 8-10 or better he should probably get another year

I don’t think they will but
They play 20 games. 8-12 should not be good enough. 10-10 maybe but there is zero chance of that.

For some inexplicable reason, it appears Ben just does not like Asuma or has no confidence in him or something… Ben should be developing him. No reason not to play Asuma more minutes.

Playing Asuma that little while letting Patterson plays a ton of minutes is just awful coaching.
