In my league, the QB earns 6 points for TD passes/rushing and the format has an additional offensive player in addition to the standard 2 QB's, 2 RB's & WR's, 1 TE. So, it makes all the sense in the world to grab 2 strong QB's, which in our league means there should be 20 QB's starting each week (10 teams). As we all know once you get beyond the top 10 (if that) QB's can be really erratic week to week. So my strategy (after my first season in the league) is to grab 2 top QB's and roll the dice with the rest of the positions.
While there's been some others in the league who have figured out this approach, for the most part, it's not been common among others, to my benefit. Here's my lineup for week 1 (I picked fifth in our 10 team wraparound, snake draft):
QB Josh Allen (pick 1)
RB Derrick Henry (pick 3)
RB Chase Brown (pick 4)
WR Davante Adams (pick 6)
WR DJ Moore (pick 7)
TE Trey McBride (pick 5)
OP Baker Mayfield (pick 2)
Flex Aaron Jones (pick 9)
K Chase Little
D Patriots
I ended up outscoring the next highest scoring team in the league by 50 points this week. I also have Jordan Love on the bench in case something happens to Allen/Mayfield. Jakobi Meyers, Deebo Samuels, Rome Odunze and Jaylen Warren are on my bench. While I have no love for (ahem) Love and the Packers, that he lasted until the 8th round after Drake Maye, Cam Ward, CJ Stroud, Tua, McCarthy, Caleb W, Stafford, and Trevor Lawrence were selected as my insurance QB stunned me (all the others are their teams second QB). Anti-Packer sentiment runs strong in my league, to my benefit.
It should be a magical season, until week 1 of the playoffs when the Bills run into a historic snowstorm, Henry, Brown, Jones are sidelined with lingering injuries and the WRs/TEs run into a collective of tough passing defenses. I've been there too many times.
