A fair amount of discussion on Richard was brought up in the context of the discussion relating to those threads. Whether it was coaching, recruiting, etc. but because it doesn’t fit your narrative of Richard it’s a bunch of blather. Watch yourself to make sure you don’t hijack any other threads with your love of him. It happens all the time get over yourself. | |||
Actually they win even when they do not have depth but they play with a top defense. I am all in as well for this year as he is our coach.I will admit when he was hired I was hoping we might strike lightning. But over the years as I have watched it just doesn’t seem to be happening. He’s here for the next year and I will cheer for him and the team to do well. And even if he has a good year and gets a new contract I will expect it to continue. He hasn’t shown to be capable of stringing multiple good years together though. Spare me the argument of injuries, transfer eligibility and the other. All coaches have to deal with those issues and when it happens they may have a down year. The good ones persevere and still win because they have depth built in.
Bull. It may start off from another topic, but when it goes on for multiple pages with the same old dribble, it makes it impossible to ever have a discussion about anything.

You talking about Greg Gard? ?Actually they win even when they do not have depth but they play with a top defense. I am all in as well for this year as he is our coach.
He was a great example this year but was talking about 5-6 guys that have won for a long time m including multiple years without depth. Gard did something very important after losing King, he did not mention him again, no excuses ! Then he adjusted the defense ever so slightly and they locked down. To win the conference with that team is remarkable. You talking about Greg Gard? ?
At this point in time, your issue is with Mark Coyle. Take it up with him. He chose to stay with RP when he had an opportunity to make a change. He didn't.Sorry that other people have a different opinion than you about Richard but honestly his record speaks for itself. Some of us chose to accept that he has not produced as we would like and would like change. Sorry about the additional drivel.

That is fine, you are entitled to your opinion. The point of this thread is not to silence the criticism, but to just try and keep it from derailing so many other threads. That conversation turns so many threads into a playground shouting match and detracts from the topical discussions on GH.Sorry that other people have a different opinion than you about Richard but honestly his record speaks for itself. Sorry but if you had read a little farther back you would see I have accepted the fact that he is here for another year. I hope he does well, I hope it earns him a new contract, but the reality is he hasn’t been consistently good from year to year. Mine and many others opinion, just like you have one, is that he should not have gotten another year. I don’t have a beef with our athletic director, I think he has done a spectacular job even if I don’t like his choice to keep the basketball coach another year. And it’s also my opinion, as well as others, that he got the year because of the situation in the world today and it was not an opportune time to make a switch. I’m quite sure he knows he is on a hot seat next year. They had better win or he is most likely gone.At this point in time, your issue is with Mark Coyle. Take it up with him. He chose to stay with RP when he had an opportunity to make a change. He didn't.

Burner - you keep repeating this. There is ample evidence Coyle was ready to make a move, but the BOR wasn’t going to agree to pay a buyout right now with athletic budgets collapsing. At this point in time, your issue is with Mark Coyle. Case solved now we just have to blame the Board of Regents instead of Coyle ?Burner - you keep repeating this. There is ample evidence Coyle was ready to make a move, but the BOR wasn’t going to agree to pay a buyout right now with athletic budgets collapsing.
The decision is Coyle’s, along with whatever results are achieved. Remember, galty, there are no asterisks.Burner - you keep repeating this. There is ample evidence Coyle was ready to make a move, but the BOR wasn’t going to agree to pay a buyout right now with athletic budgets collapsing.
The decisio
The decision is Coyle’s, along with whatever results are achieved. Remember, galty, there are no asterisks.
The circumstances this March were unprecedented, and Coyle has a boss like everyone else. This is clearly Pitino's last shot.
Uh, patently false. Unless, of course, you can provide my quote?Burner won't budge on this being Coyles fault and believes he has full autonomy regardless of budgets and finances. Even before we went into stay at home orders, this year was going to be a slow market for coaches being moved.
Uh, patently false. Unless, of course, you can provide my quote?
And, what "fault" are you referencing? I dont know of any fault at this point. Or perhaps you mean the choice to retain RP for the 20-21 season. That was a choice that Mark Coyle made. Coyle is the Athletics Director at the University of Minnesota. Coyle is responsible for any and all results of U of MN athletic teams.
It was Coyle's choice to retain RP, correct? Is Coyle responsible for the results of the U of MN athletic teams? Or are you saying the BOR is the responsible party for athletic teams results? So in one sentence you said you don't believe it's true Coyle has full autonomy, but in the paragraph below it you say it's his choice? Can't always be both. He has people above him.
