Dorsey, Mason, and McBrayer will all return next season

Grad transfer or give Sharp the scholarship for 2016-17.

Then again, don't want to boot Gas, if he leaves I hope it's because he wants to go somewhere he can get some playing time.

I'll still be a little surprised if Buggs is here next season.

If I were dividing minutes next year I would go
Lynch 25-30 at C
Murphy 25-30 at PF
Mason 25-30 at PG/SG
Dorsey 15-20 at PG
McBreyer 20-25 at Sg/Wing
Coffey 20-25 at SG/wing
Fitz 15-20 at Wing/PF
Hurt/Gilbert 10-15 at wing
Konate 10-15 at C
Curry 10 min at PF

Buggs and Gaston can play mop up minutes, but will be useful for practice.

I'm curious who you think would be starting Bemidji. I'm fairly confident it would look like this:

PG: Mason/Dorsey
SG: Coffey/McBrayer/Sharpe
SF: Fitzgerald/Gilbert/Hurt
PF: Murphy/Curry/Buggs
C: Lynch/Konate

I only listed each player once and I'm assuming no Gaston.

Glad to hear all three will be back. Straight as an arrow, boys!

I think at first will see a starting five of
Mason
McBreyer
Fitz
Murphy
Lynch
I think Coffey will make his way into the starting lineup, I think will see him a lot at both the two and the three. My guess is by conference play he will over take Fitz as a starter, but we have a lot of guys who can play multiple positions so I am sure we will see a lot of combos

our bench might be the best in a decade:

Dorsey, McBrayer, Konate, Gilbert, Buggs (hell, that's a starting lineup for a lot of D1 schools)

That's a starting lineup of a team that might win 2 or 3 games in the Big 10 and lose to all the teams in the Dakotas :)

Maybe a bit of cold water, but it would have been nice to get this from a statement that included the administration of the athletic department and not from Richard only. This is the U of M, you know. Also would be good to hear that the players are enthusiastically looking forward to returning, helping the team be good and rehabilitating their reputations. Statement from Dorsey's family is a nice start, but I'd like to hear from the players, too.

They also knocked off Maryland, I'll certainly take it over Oto, Mav, Welch, Ingriem, EE, and an Overweight Mo Walker and that team got to the tournament

I thought the same thing! Hard to imagine that Hurt and Curry couldn't penetrate these 5 for a spot on the second team!

Does Dorsey, McBrayer, Hurt/Gilbert, Curry and Konate sound better to you? That 5 could keep it close for 5-6 minutes.

I'm not worried. RP already got ahead of the administration once on this and had to take it back. I have to believe that they are in concert on this one.

You, of course, are a reasonable person. The operative statement in my above post was, "this is the U of M, you know," meaning of course that normal, reasonable and prudent behavior cannot be assumed.:p

No question the second unit/depth of the team should be far better.

Just thought the "that's a starting five for a lot of D1 teams" statement was funny :) Not a bad funny, just gave me a chuckle.

I assume two of Dupree, Coffey and Fitz will start. The third will still play 18-25 minutes anyways so depth will be solid.

Dorsey, Dupree, Konate, Buggs probably get the most minutes off the bench next year. Maybe Curry ahead of Buggs depending on how ready he is. Should be a nice group.

This is great news. I get some of the "wait and see" attitude towards this but the report indicates no further punishment or suspension going forward. Time for everyone to move on and put this behind them.

point taken....

Well, I might regret this but the U has handled this really well. The video has not come out and the players have not done anything further stupid. The girl has been completely silent (and you know lawyers have brought up suing). All has worked out really well for the U and the basketball team. It might be luck but this seems like very competent crisis management from the U. Point to Goetz on this one (and yes it might be luck).

Knock on wood, but we might have people who have a brain and can think critically in tough times working in the Athletic department, not sure I am use to this, but I can certainly get use to it.

Like you said, we still have 8 months for that to happen...

According to Pat he doesn't think Dorsey will be back. I doubt he has any information other than he is guessing. If anyone doesn't come back I would prefer it was him. I mean Dorsey not Pat. If Pat doesn't come back that would be ok too.

Go Gophers

Great there back shouldn't even been suspended! We over reacted but understand why. Gophers have had plenty of things go wrong and usually they were in the wrong not this time which is nice.

Isn't this the time of year where we say - "wow, where will get enough minutes for all this talent?" And then 8 months later we wonder how we can field a team of D1 players. I love this time of year!

I disagree. They need to have a better grasp of what social media can do to their reputation regardless of what they post. Just because they were foolish doesn't excuse this behavior.

Lol that does seem to happen annually.

I actually agree with you with the one exception of RP announcing publicly that they were likely going to play against Wisconsin only to have to pull back on it. I do think the U did its job in the public forum well. The guys deserved punishment and received it. If there had been no punishment, this would still be a public issue. It appears to have died, but this is the season of resurrection so one never knows. It appears privacy was respected from all angles and no one tripped over anyone else's feet in the communication except for the note above.

Of course, what we will never know, and shouldn't, is what the players were told by coach and administration. That's where the rubber hits the road here. This was more than just being idiots and they need to understand that. Everything public is that the message is this is serious, you damaged your team, and embarrassed your university, your state and your family. If there was anything said privately that contradicted that, I would be disappointed.

I do think past administrations would have waited until July if not October before deciding if they could come back. Never make a decision before you have to and all that.

Part of me agrees with this, but another part feels that these kids have gone through enough and it shows loyalty to not leave them out in the cold longer than is required. If it has been internally decided that they will be reinstated, it makes sense to show your commitment to these kids and get them thinking about next year rather than transfer options sooner rather than later.

Can anyone name me a few college players who start at shooting guard who are at least 6-7"? Coffey plays a majority of minutes at sf. If he ever makes the NBA it might be as a shooting guard.
