Dorsey Commits to Gophers!!!!!!!!!

Is this entire thread predicated on a "source saying", or have either his coach or Kevin actually said anything?
I know, I know. Minnesota Pessimism®.

If you would check the PP and/or the Strib, you might get some info that wouldn't make you look like a fool.

Kid finishes well at the rim with both hands, glad to hear that folks have seen more of his jumper in person. FWIW, Ryan James said that Johnson is still very much a target - could make for a killer backcourt tandem.

Noticed that too. I love that a player uses both hands at the rim. Gets others involved, seems to work hard all over. Very cool.

Outstanding commit....fills 25% of my dream class:

Dorsey ("We got one!!!!!")
Illikainen
Clarke
Jarvis

Geez...a young backcourt of Dorsey, Mason and Jarvis would be incredible and plenty of minutes available for all 3 guys each game.

That would be awesome; I would take Jimmy Whitt over Jarvis in my dream class however (that's assuming we have no real shot at Trier, as he would trump them all).

Not that it matters but on 247 it says he is from Waldorf Maryland and on all the others he is from Fairfax Virginia. Is his HS in one state and he lives in the other?

Wow! Great start to the recruiting campaign and an early commit! Winning the NIT, he watched and likes what he saw with Pitino's system. Let's hope the dominos start falling in the Gophers' favor.

This makes getting over losing Jones, Reed, and Vaughn a little easier to take. I have faith in Richard Pitino's recruiting system. Oh, he'll get the players he wants for his system. Homeboys or not.

I agree, if MN born & bred kids want to play at home, they shouldn't dilly dally because the Gopher train ain't waiting.

Great pick up. Not sure what this means with Jarvis, but we should be solid with Mason and Dorsey at PG. Did anyone pick Dorsey on the poll?

Have to admit I knew nothing about him but picked him based on a hunch. Now, seeing his tape, I LOVE him

Really excited about this commitment for Pitino and the Gophers. It goes without saying that the staff needed to hit on some higher ranked guys in the 2015 class and Dorsey certainly fits that profile. Maryland has been on a recruiting roll of late, so landing a kid with a Terps offer is a really good sign, especially one who was in their backyard. Not only did Pitino need to land a kid like this for his own recruiting credentials, but the team badly needed a PG it could feel good about for the 2015 season with lil Dre graduating and Mason profiling as more of a combo guard to this point. This is a great start to the 2015 class and the local kids (Jarvis/Alex) better take note that out of state guys who are ranked higher than them are buying in to this program and want one of those open scholarships.

SIAP, but this is a really good tape on Dorsey (albeit a year old). Not the typical rap-blasting mixtape showing a bunch of dunks.

I really like that 3rd video. It has interview snippets mixed in from both Kevin and his coaches, and everything they say makes me believe that he will be a stud for us.

Edit: and someone linked the same video right above me. Still, you all should watch it.

WOW!!! This kid has the potential to be a great two-way player. I expected him to commit to Maryland so this is a surprise.

Wow, everyone is fair game, I guess. I would like to think of my post history as polite, inquisitive and undeserving of this.

Please respond with something like, "Get off my lawn!" so my image of you will be complete.

Yep. He's from Waldorf, MD but his HS is private so he can attend out of state (Fairfax VA).

If the Mn kid is Top 100, I have a feeling Pitino will find a place for him. This is great news, but not because it's going to force Mn kids to pick the U. They'll commit because there will be other good players
heading here, won't matter much to them where the teammate is from.

This does feel like a breakthrough for Pitino after interest from some pretty highly rated players but no commitments. Success breeds more success, whether you're talking winning games or talking recruiting and I think Rich ain't done yet.

Anyone calling the STrib a reliable source for anything is a fool

Between Holland and Dorsey, the gophs have been striking gold with VA recruits. Now we just need Clarke to jump on board.

Kevin Dorsey appears to have a ton of potential especially in the full-court pressing Pitino system. How concerned we should be about these small athletic guards holding up through a physically grueling conference schedule is the thing on my mind. Adding Jarvis would give us three rather diminutive albeit very athletic backcourt players who will be going up against substantially bigger more physical guards from any other team in the B1G. I'm not sure Pitino is striking the right balance between athleticism and physicality in the guards he wants. Hopefully, Nate, Kevin, and likely Jarvis prove to be durable players.

With the success of our BB conditioning program that this isn't going to be the concern that it may appear to be today. Mathieu adding 20 pounds at this stage in his college career as an example.

All of these guys are bigger than our MVP, Mathieu. Not. Worried. At. All.

On the contrary, will those bigger big ten guards be able to keep up with all of our athletic guards pushing the tempo and pressing them for 40 minutes straight? This is the mindset the fans should start to adopt, because that's the type of team our coach is putting together. I'd rather think in an optimistic way I guess.

First, you're right. Second, people have to realize these guards are only small for shooting guards. They're just fine as point guards. Third, if our guys are faster, quicker, and more skilled than the bigger guards, then I like our chances.

You sir, get a good star!

POLLYANNA!!!
