Crowd last night ⚡️⚡️⚡️

I look forward to a day when we don't feel compelled to storm the field after beating a mediocre team.
I get it.

Nebraska fans in attendance expected to win once again. I think the kids understand this.

I have no problem with the next generation of fans thinking beating Nebraska is a big deal.

There were certainly earlier generations of Gophers fans who did believe beating Nebraska was a big deal...just that they didn't live to see it.

Worth pondering...

Meatsauce will say ‘no one was there’. Parker Sux will say he didn’t go but turned it off after 5 min.

No, I get it. I remember '83, '89, '90, etc. And beating Nebraska gives me a great feeling. Furthermore, I think I yell louder than anyone when we beat Northwestern or Purdue. But running onto the field, I think is reserved for momentous occasions - beating top 5 team, breaking a losing streak against a hated rival, that kind of thing.

I think it's kind of bush league to do it for a mediocre team that we've already beaten five times in a row. If that makes me a stuffed shirt, then I guess RememberMediocrity is right.

It makes you better than the rest of us, clearly. Fans who stormed the field last night are 'bush league' (your description); you're obviously major league, in contrast.

And a team that came into the game as 9.5 point favorites, 5-1, and ranked #25 in the nation is "mediocre" (again, your description).

You are looking down at the rest of the world from lofty, lofty heights.

I think you're being awfully sensitive, ForgotMurray.

I'm just saying it's time for Gopher fans to up our game. It's certainly time to up yours.

Mrs. Billd might be your match on yelling even for those too.

Regardless, it happened, it's done...in this case for beating the same team 6 times in a row.

Hopefully there's at least the chance for this debate to come again in the future. At least we're debating the outcome of winning a game. Certainly we all wish for more deserving ones to come. Some day, maybe...

Been thinking about how many red fans were there.

The student section holds about 10,000, I don’t think there was enough Nebraska fans to even fill half that, so I do think there were probably less than 4,000 total.

They had 3k as their allotment and sold all of it. There were 38k non students and I'm guessing around 30% was red. That would be 11,400. That would be on the high estimate. 20% would be 7,600.....that is likely your range. Somewhere between 8-11k

I think it's bush league if anyone over 30 stormed the field. If it was only the kids storming, let them have fun.

I think it was more than that. Tougher to tell because a good portion were wearing black.

What also made it hard was they never made it into the end zone. 😎
Did my fanwatching thing as folks came to the stadium on The Tribal Nations Plaza as usual but a lot earlier for this one.

The first wave of Nebbie fans arriving at TCF were actually mostly in street or barn clothes with maybe a N cap or walking with someone else in their group actually in team colors.

This shifted as it got closer to game time as the demonstrable Husker fans showed up in Red, White, and yes Black as their colors of choice.

They were quiet and crabby. When you have given everything to be in this cult and it isn't going as promised you get upset. It hasn't set in they are never going to the college playoff.

Agree multiple different color schemes.

I got to the State Fairgrounds lot just after 5pm. Surveying the landscape there, I was thinking it was going to be at least a third Cornhusker fans at the game itself. They were there in droves.

At the stadium it did not seem nearly as overwhelming. I would say at minimum 10,000, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was closer to 15,000.
