Crowd last night ⚡️⚡️⚡️

Hard for us old fuckers to get in the mindset of a 17 year old recruit that might have been at the game, but I'll bet if they were there they had to be imagining being a recipient of the crowd excitement after they contributed to a victory for the gophers. Better than any professionally contrived publicity video. The field rush may have won us a couple of really good players for the future.

Agree multiple different color schemes.

I got to the State Fairgrounds lot just after 5pm. Surveying the landscape there, I was thinking it was going to be at least a third Cornhusker fans at the game itself. They were there in droves.

At the stadium it did not seem nearly as overwhelming. I would say at minimum 10,000, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was closer to 15,000.
Hmm, I was there and would estimate about half your numbers...7500 being generous. Almost all of the usual empty seats around me were gopher fans.

That had to be one of the most energetic crowds since the Penn State game. Students, rest of the stadium, very loud, very enthusiastic. Maybe a bit boozed up too (especially noticeable in the walk back to the parking lot ;)).

That fourth quarter had the biggest “party time” energy of any game I’ve been to these last four years. Maximum good vibes.

How many chances do we even have to upset a ranked team at home each year? Two or three? Maybe we win one every few years? Why is it embarrassing to celebrate a win on the field? It’s not like the fans rioted in the streets, they didn’t tear down the goal posts. I don’t understand people, yes I get Ohio State fans would never do such a thing, we aren’t Ohio State and acting like them won’t make us like them. Let people celebrate the successes of their program. We don’t have to wait to be national title contenders before we can get some enjoyment from watching this team.
Exactly.

We lament that we have a small fanbase and not much buy in...but then we rip any attempt by the new fans to get engaged. I saw this a lot with hockey fans...lots of 40 year olds whining because the college kids changed a cheer or found different ways to get excited at Mariucci all while criticizing how old the fanbase was and how dead the fans seemed.

I have no interest in storming a field...but I have even less interest policing how kids celebrate their fandom.

When the PA guy says “and that’s another Golden Gopher…” now that is a fan participation moment worth complaining about. 🙄
