Congratulations to Mark Coyle on the successful hire

STOP IT. STOP IT. STOP IT.

This is like watching two drunks argue very loudly in a bar, and everyone else just wants them to shut up or for the bouncer to throw them out.

Stop the pointless arguments. The referee is not going to step in and declare a winner.

Both of you Just stop posting and go back to your narcissistic hell that you rot in when you're not posting here.

Yes, I think congratulations are in order for the Fleck hire.

I will take a shot at it. Coyle is pretty damn good at targeting the coaches he likes and hiring them. That is better then the previous moron. Also fits at character, no chance he could stand by Lynch. Fundraising, he inherited a giant hole. Winning in football will help there and already has. Winning at basketball would help but he did not pick the coach. He is
professional and connected. So he is not a dynamic personality, we have had so many inept AD's. Moe, i really like and respect and he simply had a different job. FYI , he would not have stood by Lynch either.

Nice post. I agree with everything you said. I will only add that it's not the job of AD's (and coaches) to stand by their athletes. Their job is to do everthing possible to help them succeed on the field, in the classroom, and to help prepare them for life after they leave college. Furthermore, they have a responsibility to the U, and their students, alumni, fans, and all Minnesotans to hold athletes accountable when their actions violate the student code of conduct, team rules, and general standards of behavior in the community. I think most of us are confident that's what Coyle (and Fleck) are trying to do. God knows that hasn't always been the case at the U.

I think another aspect of that could be Fleck having the players invest in their own mental health. Making therapists/counselors/mentors available and encouraging players to utilize them like they utilize the weight room or training room.
