Colton Iverson

I heard that a bag of weed spilled out of a stolen laptop after he hit a security guard with it.

That's a shame. I think we need to start questioning how Tubby deals with and teaches these kids if we haven't already. Colton has a lot of skills and he never got better. Now instead of wanting to finish his senior year here, he is going to leave. That tells you how he feels about the situation. How many more guys is Tubby going to drive away before he completely loses his allure?

This is getting sad.

Why do people on this board find this surprising? I don't. This board just keeps ripping recruit after recruit. There isn't a player on the team that is good enough for this board. Do you enjoy being second guessed by your bosses after each decision you make? It is bad enough when trolls come on our boards to stir things up, but Minnesota doesn't need trolls to do it as we have the "GopherHole Community." This site doesn't encourage the student athletes but tears them apart. If you guys are all such experts on who should play or not, what are you doing on a two bit board like this. If you knew as much as you think you do, you would be making Tubby money or even more, because I have seen where certain people know so much more about recruiting, defenses, how to handle players, etc then Tubby. This isn't a community board but a whipping post where we string players and coaches up for all to abuse.

Great kid and great family. We'll miss him but a change may be best for him.

Whatever little confidence he had coming in from Yankton was completely ruined by his knee-jerk minutes and stunted development.

A 6'11'' big, with a decent skill set...I'm sorry, the coaching staff HAS to get more out of him than what they got. He displayed the ability to dominate at times.

How is it the coaching staff's fault that he was a foul machine who half the time could not hit a shot from underneath the basket? I am not apologizing for Tubby but half the time Colton either turned the ball over (anytime he put it on the ground) or he missed a bunny shot. He is essentially the same player he was as a frosh only he fouls way more.

That said another defection is a really bad omen and this is starting to add up real bad no matter the reason.

your hypocrisy is hilarious and laughable. here is what you wrote on the fball board >>Why can't Brewster see what many fans see. Weber shouldn't be our starting QB. Last night was another example as he was unable to lead a wide open receiver. There were at least 3 touch downs the Gophers should have had, had Weber not thrown behind, thrown short, or thrown over the head of open receivers. Not to mention down by 11 points and throwing short pass after short pass as time is running out. Weber's stats show a lot of passing yardage last night but how many of these completed passes were very poorly thrown balls that the receivers caught inspite of Weber?

It's time to start developing next years QB's. By sticking with Weber, Brewster is supplying the U with the nails for Brewster's own coffin.

The U can have my season tickets next year. I have seen enough. <<

you are such a f'n hypocrit its amazing.

Johnny Gopher, one who most of us would say is a voice of reason, strongly suggested that Colt was going to transfer *** last year ***.

Therefore, I guess, I'm not surprised that Colt decided to transfer this year. Disappointed that he isn't finishing his college career here though.

I wish him well wherever he goes. :)

Colt

I agree. I will miss Colt and he will always be a Gopher. I hope things go well for him.

I have to admit I really do not like this turn of events.

I have family who are very close to Colton. I've found out a lot of things about him over the years, but I've not shared out of respect for his privacy. They are telling me the schools of most interest to him are Nebraska, Iowa, USD, and SDSU.

He pretty much decided that he was going to transfer. He was all set to, in fact, before he visited his family back home and his dad told him that transferring was not an option and told him to finish what he started. I'm not sure what changed in the last year to facilitate this change of heart from his family.

Maybe Colton grew up, recognized his limitations, and stopped listening to his family and decided to do what was best for him. It's HIS decision, and I respect that.

I'm not sure if Colt's family reads comments here or not but if you have the chance please let them know that a lot of people like and support what Colton did here and I, for one, certainly wish him the best wherever he lands.

Thanks.

Count me in.

Colt will always be a Gopher.

MO will be ready? Mbakwe will be here? Oh, but wait we have Ralph Jr. inside to bang........oh crap we are screwed!!!!!!!!

Interesting. To me it seems like a pretty drastic step to transfer to another school entering your senior season of play, but maybe that's just me. I don't know, but I wonder why he would choose to do that and if we will ever really know the reason why?

At any rate, I wish him the best wherever he goes. I feel a special affinity for fellow South Dakota natives (probably because there are so few of us), so Colton was always one of my favorites on this team. Good luck, Colt!

Let them know that people on here think their son was crap and its not on the coaching staff at all to develop these players!! GH says Thanks for pissing away 3 years of your life because you weren't naturally talented enough from day 1.

Really? Are you 12? If you're this unhappy with the Gophers why don't you start cheering for a different team? No one is forcing you to be a Gopher fan. I think it's time for you to go.

By the way, speak for yourself. Everyone else is wishing him well.

Colton is one of my favorite players. One of the few players I have seen who always came with energy and power. Gophers don't win Puerto Rico with out Colton.

Frustrating to watch the flopping and acting by the opposition as Colton became a foul magnet. I think it was a Northwestern player who dropped like a rock when Colton did his spin move. Imagine the officials surprise as the video check for a thrown elbow revealed no contact at all.

Sincerely, best wishes to Colton and his family.

P.S. Of course Tubby bears some responsibility for this.

Umm, I'm being sarcastic. I'm a Colton fan, I think he's getting too much of the blame for his nondescript days as a Gopher. I wish him well and hoped it works out for him. I think some of this has to be on Tubby and his staff for not getting more out of him.

I agree with the bolded - IF Trevor is not back. If Trevor comes back him and Ralph make a perfect high/low duo....but if TM is gone I would have really liked to see Colt and Ralph on the floor together quite a bit next year.

If nothing else, he was a mean SOB downlow, good to have a physical guy to bang downlow. Good news is EE and Mo should be ready to fill in.

As far as Ralph playing high, forget it. We should have more scoring options this year, that priss needs to quit shooting 3's and man-up.

We wish the absolute best for Colt.

He was a D2 or low D1 player from the beginning and will flourish at a different conference . Obviously, Colt did not develop. Unfortunately it is impossible
to teach quickness, soft hands, and an ability to finish around the rim. Some gifts are God Given, all Colt really had was size and aggressiveness. We sincerely wish him the best and this is clearly Addition by subtraction for the Gophers. I look at it as a Win win for both Colt and the U of M.

It was all an elaborate plant by the U of M administration to bring down the revenue sports. Fire Maturi.

Talking to Jan Gangelhoff about a paper on Menopause that he has to write!

Seriously, best of luck to Colton wherever he should go..... obviously except if he should go to Iowa!!

My thoughts on Colt

I will remember him as almost always having that smile on his face even in bad times. He seems like a nice guy. But sometimes i wished he would get angrier out there as I didnt find myself smiling with what was going on out on the court. But I do realize you cant tell what is going on inside a person by his look on the outside.
The other impression I had was that Ralph can get by with about anything and not get any serious benching. Tubby had no trouble benching Colt in tough times. Ralph seems to be kind of Tubbys pet if you know what I mean. If I were Colt I dont think it would feel I was getting a fair shake-yes Colton deserved some benching but so did Ralph at times.
