Coach Fleck with a POWERFUL closing statement...A message to the true fans and the critics.

It’s always a little more depressing the day of a loss, especially to a rival. However, I think once the emotions of the day wear off, we can be proud of this season. People seem to forget the gophers didn’t make a bowl game 2 years ago and barely made a bowl game last year. Before anyone jumps me, I’m not saying we should be content and not want to improve, just think we should calm down (and sober up) and reflect on the major positives of the year.

The only problem with this speech is that he acts like we will get this good of a record next year. With the tougher schedule, I have a hard time believing that this team will be as good or within two games as far as their record goes.

Yes, they might be better, but their record won’t show it. Let’s say they go 7-6 or 8-5 at best. People will see it as a step backwards, listen to this speech, and laugh at it. Opponents and like Reusse will say, “It is the same old Gophers and put up or shut up.”

I want to believe what he’s selling, but I feel like next year won’t show it.

I'm gonna laugh so hard if he leaves for FSU.
This year's schedule was as easy as it's gonna get. Hopefully the end of this season showed him that he still has a loooong way to go if he wants to elevate this program.

FAU is a tough home opener and it only gets harder after week 2. A lot of the B1G West was in rebuilding mode this year. NW/NE/Purdue are only going to get better.

I agree our schedule will be tougher next year, but

I think we have a shot at getting better too:unsure:

We're losing our best defensive and offensive playmaker this season. It's hard to get better when most of your production graduates or goes to the NFL.

Exactly the segment of the fan base he is talking about.

Vision and positive words about his program are nice to listen to.
In the upcoming fourth recruiting class for PJ we are presently the 9th rated Big Ten team.
Will that move the needle?
We just got dominated by Wisconsin at home today. He also promised us beating them last year was significant. He said it was a turning point...Proof it would be different going forward.
We got out coached in our two trophy games.
Yes, we beat Penn State.
We lose 15 guys who stayed and played and carried us much of the season. We seem like we have guys to step up in their place but I wouldn’t say it is certain.
I could see a scenario where we lost today. I seriously did not see one where we got abused and dominated.
To me the biggest factor in our season was the schedule. That is the biggest reason we won 10 games.
I’m tired of PJ ignoring guys who paved his way to today and those 10 wins. It’s not the first time since 1905. Glen Mason won 10 games. Tracy won 9. At least win 11 before you bring it up at every chance to remind every one how incredibly blessed we are you are our coach.
I’d love for him to win 9 or 10 games next year. He as much as told us we were going to.
I hate being skeptical but I don’t see it happening in the next year or even two.
But I do hope it does. Don’t tell me. Show me. Somebody said that around here once.

You're really a total fool. Wow. Go cheer on a fatf--k coach again. If you don't see the difference between this 10-2 regular season and Mason's 9-3 regular season in 2003, you should go back and realize not only that we had 4 non-con games that year and see who those were against BUT find one win close to as good as beating an undefeated #4 team. Go ahead now, prove your IQ again.

YOURE IN THE MINORITY NOW, PAL. NOT ONE PERSON CARES IF YOU ARE CRYING LIKE A LITTLE B*TCH OVER PJ'S PERSONALITY. NOT. ONE.

Very nice! All caps too! Special touch.
I keep forgetting there are some coaches who won games that didn’t count. My bad. ?

True. But Fleck has two main things over Mason: 1. he has the full backing of the U administration and the resources, and 2. he has not (yet) openly flirted with trying to move to another program. Mason burned a ton of momentum and good will when he went for the OSU job.

Very good points.

We are the Gophers not the Flecks. Let's talk about the Gophers. Good season let's be proud of it.

Your only points are complaints about the coach's personality. Get over it

Most of this fanbase is Gopher fans, not weird pseudo-sexual stalker Fleck fans like yourself. The fat-f**** you are talking about helped bring a lot of these guys in here that made this season possible. He is, as our past coaches are, are Gophers. They helped build the history and future of this program just like Fleck is doing. You and the creepy folks who want to display some loathing of anything that is pre Fleck are a problem. Gopher fans find you creepy and a detriment to us moving forward as a program.

Revisiting our 10 win 2003 season (the one that evidently never happened)
We lost to Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State...all Top 25 ranked opponents.
We beat Wisconsin for the Axe. We beat Penn State for the Bell.
We finished the season at 10 and 3 ranked #20 in the final AP poll.
We beat Oregon in the Sun Bowl.
We crushed our four pre conference non conference opponents scoring 40 plus points in each game.
I’m not seeing the absurdity? We won the Axe and the Bell. Plus one
We lost to all top 25 ranked teams. Check
Granted, we did squeak out only 3 non conference wins this year. Kind of our fourth, we also beat Rutgers soundly. So, kind of not equal in accomplishment regarding style points but okay...whatever.
Dunno...I stand by my original contention...Let’s win 11 before we get too all look at me.

Jerry Kill and his offering to MAC quality kids days are past. #grateful

You can’t make it up. ????
You’re whining because they won 10 regular season games not 11. If they had beat Wisconsin and lost next week you would whine about only winning 11.

Just think of the whining you could have done if they only won 6 games.

The agenda is obvious.

We are in Mason territory. It’s up to him to pass that.

10 regular season wins passed Mason. Masons best conference record was 5-3, 7-2 this year passes that as well. Fleck has passed Mason, now he needs to sustain it and improve upon it.

Because you saw them going 10-2 and making a nyd bowl..... Dohkay

They didn't make a NYD bowl. I had them at 9 wins and tied w/ Wisconsin for 1st in the B1G West, just like most people here did.

When they beat PSU, I expected them to take the next step, and they failed to take the next step this year.

Fleck had a wide open window to the B1G championship. He needed to win 1 of 2 trophy games and he couldn't get it done. That's not on anyone else.

MAC quality kids? You mean our leading rusher? Our leading receiver? Our leading tackler? Our best defensive player?

Or how about the 'MAC quality' kids that Fleck brought in? Tanner was committed to WMU. Not fuckin' Alabama.

That is the most disrespectful crap I have read today.

'MAC quality' kids just led this team to a 10-2 season.

I’m happy with where we are with Fleck in year 3. It takes time to build a program. We have a ways to go and Fleck has accelerated that timeline. It wasn’t long ago we were the bottom tier of the B1G. We have a lot to look forward to in the coming years. It is a great season and we have a top tier bowl game ahead. Ski u mah, Go gophers, and RTB.

We are loosing Smith and Johnson on offense. We are going to miss both, but I wouldn’t be too doom and gloom. Bateman is coming back as well as Autman-Bell and Big Mo will be back at running back. You lose some talent every year. Every team does. You just have to trust that the coaches evaluate and bring in good recruits.

Winfield might go pro, but Bateman will still be here.

It isn't "most," by the way. It's not even close. We lose a lot on defense, but only Johnson and Smith on offense.
