Bret Bielema showing pure class once again

This is OT from the original post, but Enema-related nonetheless.

Rittenberg/Bennett tweeted that one of them got a text stating this:

"Saw you're an Obrien voter. Hope my QB makes your ballot, he is best I have ever seen. Playing for or against. Bret"

You can't make it up.

I know you are not familiar with having players in these types of discussions....this is completely commonplace in college football for your elite players. Some schools go as far as buying billboards. All of them use email, text and mailed materials to promote their players. It's why good players want to play for coaches like Brett Bielema.

Dpoll....the things you stretch at to hate Wisconsin, are pure entertainment. Pretty unhealthy for you, I can imagine.

What other UW football topics should we discuss?

What the hell are you talking about? I know exactly what he's doing. I guarantee that I am much, much smarter than you, so spare me the condescension. Also, Minnesota has had several players win national honors, some quite recently, so get off your high horse.

Setting all of your other smug nonsense aside, the statement that Wilson is the best QB that Bielema has coached for or against is a bald-faced lie. Period. This cannot be argued against. You can pump up your own players without blatantly lying to do so. It's not a stretch at all. I hate lying everywhere it takes place. The fact that it's Enema doing the lying makes it all that much sweeter.

OK....since you know more than I do, can you please show me the QB that Bielema has coached for or against that is better than Russell Wilson, thus causing him to be a liar? The notion that you even suggest that his take is irrational, is very entertaining stuff.

Just to let you know....in Bielema's one season of exposure to him, he's the top rated QB in college football.

I mentioned this in the previous post and I'll say it again: Dpoll....the things you stretch at to hate Wisconsin, are pure entertainment. Pretty unhealthy for you, I can imagine. But it is very entertaining to all of us. The jealousy for what Wisconsin has really must hurt.

WHY WON'T PEOPLE JUST LET THIS DIE SO THEY GO AWAY?!?!

Off the top of my head:

Better college QBs:

Troy Smith
Eric Crouch
Jason White
Chad Henne
Brett Basanez

Better pro QBs:

Any future pro QB who Enema has coached for or against, since Wilson has the same chance of playing in the NFL as I do.

The jealousy for what Wisconsin has really must hurt.

Yeah. I'm so very jealous of Becky's zero national championships, fewer Big Ten titles, and fewer head-to-head wins. It's so very painful.

I'd like to talk about Wisconsin's prevent defense in the closing minutes of games, on the road, with their National Title hopes on the line this year. Cause I find that topic hilarious.

Yeah. I'm so very jealous of Becky's zero national championships, fewer Big Ten titles, and fewer head-to-head wins. It's so very painful.

So, you are 60 years old? Otherwise, you've never experience any of those!!!!!!

As for your list....even suggesting that it isn't reasonable to choose the top rated QB from 2011 ahead of those guys is laughable. But Basenez? Henne? LOL!

Troy Smith's highest season QB rating is a whole 40 points below what Wilson's is this season. Eric Crouch was an option QB. I'll give Bielema the benefit of the doubt that he thinks Wilson is a better QB under his definition. And Jason White is also a whole 40 points below Wilson's season QB rating this season.

Yeah....big liar.

*EDIT....I don't care if you think those are better QB's. Your exaggeration that he's a liar for taking his guy....who is putting up a better statistical season than every single guy you listed ever came close to.....is the most "entertaining" thing you've said on here.

*EDIT #2.....Russell Wilson is on pace to shatter the single season Pass Efficiency Record held by Cam Newton....201 to 188. Bielema is a huge, huge liar.

SERIOUSLY, WHY CAN'T WE JUST LET THIS THREAD DIE?!

Zam....that's a cute pic you keep putting in these threads. It is clear that many here want to talk Badger football. The topics are pretty clearly marked. Like, "Bret Bielema showing pure class" or "Alvarez". You don't have to read them. Some of the Gopher fans clearly want to talk Badger football.

It seems that every fan base has at least one person who has several screws loose. You can tell who they are because they have no life other than hanging out at other school’s football blogs acting out as if they were in junior high. I hereby nominate Badger inohiovalley to be the poster child for these pathetic lonely people.

Killjoy.....you guys entertain me! This is a fun place to hang out! But I understand....it's not fun to lose 15 of 17 to your chief rival and then have them hold you accountable when you talk trash about them.

So, you are 60 years old? Otherwise, you've never experience any of those!!!!!!

Why did we have to be alive to appreciate National titles? Were you alive for the first and second Super Bowl? I bet you still claim those when talking Packers.

Onto the better QB discussion. Don't you remember the Christian Ponder-led Seminoles destroying you a few years back? He's only a top 12 pick, so it should be good listening to you defend BB and Wilson here.

How about Ryan Mallett? A couple impressive seasons in the SEC before being drafted in the 3rd round by the NE Patriots. Heisman winning QB Troy Smith probably doesn't do it for you either, huh? That's just to name a few...

Each quarterback you name....none had a season like the season Wilson is having, and Bielema is witnessing. Is that hard to understand?

As for the Packers discussion....the best NFL equivalent for the Gophers existence would be the Cleveland Browns. Except that their championships were won after playing in a championship game instead of losing a bowl game. Still, living around plenty of Cleveland Brown fans, they don't flaunt their now ancient championships. They are disgraced by the going on 5 decades of irrelevance.

As for Ponder....he looks like a good candidate for a solid Byron Leftwich type career. Thankful he's Minnesota's QB.

Wilson is having a better season than a man who won the Heisman? That must mean Wilson is going to win the Heisman this year then?

Also didn't know you were an NFL scout. Ponder will go on to have a great career. He also kicked the crap out of the Badgers a few years ago. But that game didn't have anything to do with him though, did it?

Statistically, yes he is. He's on pace to shatter the NCAA passer rating record. Whether or not he wins the Heisman has to do with how the teams does....and you know that.

But let's stay on topic. The original poster called Bielema a bold faced liar for saying the player with the highest passer rating in the history of the game is the best QB he's coached or played against. You can have all the opinions you want about who you like better and who really cares - I wouldn't question it. The whole topic is an opinion topic that is unprovable. The original poster suggesting picking Wilson is unreasonable is laughable. It spews his hurt over watching Wisconsin continue to have success in the game of football. And he's clearly unable to be objective on the topic.

Well, agree to disagree then

Well, agree to disagree then

Wait....you think it was unreasonable for Bielema to say that Russell Wilson (the player with the single season best passer rating in college history) is the best player he's coached or coached against?

I get, you don't want to say he's the best in your opinion. Fine. Not even the arguement. But how is Bielema's opinion unreasonable and that he's a bold faced liar when he's picking the guy with the best stats?

Please remember Trolls have nothing else to do but play on the internet as nothing else is going on their lives.

Look, I think Badger inohiovalley makes very good points regarding Russell Wilson and I tend to agree with him...the sad thing is that the Badgers have never had a quarterback this good and probably won't in the future and they've lost 2 games this year!

So bragg all ya want about Wilson, I for one think he's awesome. Too bad with a team like that and a QB like that you lost 2 games to teams that won't even be ranked in the top 10, and one maybe not even in the top 30. I don't think Alvarez or a lot of other college coaches would have lost a Big 10 game with this team.

If you go on twitter right now and search Brett Bielema the results are pretty hilarious. It's not just minnesotans who think he's a prick.

Yet the badger fans that frequent this board trick themselves into thinking only Gopher fans think BB is an arrogant jerk. I'll repeat the story I've posted several times on this site. Many of my relatives live in Madison, and are diehard Badger fans. Three months into the Bielema hire they told me he is the most pompous, self-absorbed individual they have seen in that type of a job. One of my relatives actually told me "I hope the team goes down in flames so he gets firsd." Needless to say, not knowing a whole lot about the guy at the time that quote absolutely floored me.

I have friends who are diehard badger fans - many of them have seen or hung out with him at Badger parties around campus. They've never divulged the full stories to me, but I've heard on several occasions something to the effect of "you wouldn't believe the stories about this guy..."

For many coaches you might just pass this off as stories blown out of proportion, etc. But with Bretty-boy, you can't help but believe in all of the circumstancial evidence of prickdom.

BB is a lot like AJ Pierzynski.

As Ozzie Guillen once said about AJ: "If you play against him, you hate him. If you play with him, you hate him a little less."

No response, dpoll? I agree. Calling Bielema a bold faced liar was a completely biased, poor choice of words by you.

I'm not responding any further beyond this, nor to any other posts by you. You have the honor of being the first, and only, person I'm putting on my ignore list in my many years on this forum. I said I would never do it, but you're a huge enough pr*ck and complete moron that I can't stand your sh*t.

I'll leave it at this: you have the last twenty years. And that's all you have. I'll take the previous 100 and live off them just fine, thank you. I will die happy, hopefully 60 years from now, knowing that Minnesota was, is, and always will be a better historical football program than Wisconsin.

Enjoy producing serial killers, f*cking dead deer, celebrating alcoholism, and keeping the nation's BMI at an all-time high.

Good Idea!

I also always felt that I would never put somebody on the ignore list but this guy will be the exception. He cleary enjoys acting like a spoiled junior high kid who craves lots of attention. The word jerk is overused but in his case it describes him to a tee. Now I just need to figure out how to put him on the ignore list.

WOW. You are 120 years old? That is awesome. The things you've seen and lived through are incredible!

Some Day...Is Coming! Reply

"...the sad thing is that the Badgers have never had a quarterback this good and probably won't in the future and they've lost 2 games this year!"

To be fair, you can't read the future. Secondly, the top three single season total yardage leaders in Wisconsin football history (Stocco 2005, Donovan 2007, Tolzien 2009) have all appeared since Coach Chryst took over the offense in 2005. Those records, all set by excellent quarterbacks, will likely be shattered this year by yet another superb quarterback. The best we've seen.

Finally, there's nothing sad about losing only two games to date and still very much in the hunt for a second consecutive conference title and Rose Bowl appearance. I suspect most here would be ecstatic were that the case for Minnesota. Opportunity lost? Maybe (depending on BCS polls) but it's why they play the games.

Chryst has had one season at UW where he's been unable to generate stellar quarterback play-2008. Even then Dustin Scherer was excellent in our victory over Minnesota. By all accounts we've an excellent young recruit and the staff seems to really like Joel Stave and Joe Brennan. If Budmayr and Curt Phillips are able to overcome injuries then there'll be some very serious quarterback competition next year and a lot of weapons around them to exploit even with Toon and, possibly, Ball gone.

Life goes on.

As many of you know, I'm a very busy man. You know scoring 70 points on countless opponents, making the Rose Bowl, and making sure to embarrass Minnesota is a hard thing to do, and takes up a lot of my time. Actually, change that embarrassing Minnesota isn't, but you get the point. Anyways, I was looking through my email, when my most frequent emailer St. Bucky emailed me that some Minnesota fans on Gopherhole were saying that I'm classless.

Listen, you have it all wrong. I'm all about showing class, and gentility to all of my opponents. Russell is the best QB that I've ever played for, against or coached. It's not hard to stand, just look at his stats. The guy is terrific player, and an even better person. I know rupert still thinks that Marqueis is better, but the truth of the matter is winning 1 Big Ten game as a starter in your career isn't very impressive. Maybe I'm wrong about thinking that, but when have I ever been wrong. Regarding the 2 point conversion last year, it isn't hard to understand. When your team is as good as ours was you rarely if ever get a chance to go for 2 in meaningful situations, so I felt it was necessary to go for it then as my the Coaching Card "told me so". I'm sorry if I have upset you guys, but I really try not to. Maybe, when you guys have a team capable of beating Wisconsin, I will give you guys credit, and say "Congrats", but that just doesn't seem likely so until then enjoy watching your football team play, while Wisconsin wins their 2nd straight Big Ten Title.

Badger in Ohio Valley is taking this over the top, however, for Bret Beilema to say that Russell Wilson is the best QB he has coached or played against is not outrageous by any stretch.

He's on pace to break the following NCAA records:
- Passer Rating
- Yards per attempt
- Yards per play
- Touchdowns per attempt
- Consecutive games with a TD pass (only 2 away from the record)

He's also on pace to break or has already broken these Wisconsin records:
- Passing yards in a season
- TD's in a season
- Completion percentage (currently at 73.4% completion, Big Ten Record is 73.5%)

Now pretend he doesn't play for Wisconsin (shout out to Jake Brigance). Is it really outrageous to think that he might actually be the best a coach has gone against? No. What is outrageous is for someone to suggest that the person making this claim is lying. Only pure, irrational, hatred could lead one to that conclusion.

Wilson might not actually be the best Bielema has coached or played against. There are several valid arguments for and against Russell Wilson in that regard. That's not the issue here. To suggest that Bielema is lying is just plain stupid.
