BREAKING NEWS!!! Big Time!! Connor Mayes a Gopher!!!!!!!!

http://www.killerfrogs.com/msgboard/index.php?showtopic=171293&page=1

They seemed quite pleased when the non-conference games with the Gophers were announced, but suddenly Killer Frogs doesn't think too highly of the Minnesota program. Most blaming not offering Alex as the key, others now thinking that his exposure will suffer because there definitely is a lack of television cameras in Minneapolis & the Big Ten for sure.

Wow, what is this world coming to when Texas Christian University is throwing potshots at a Big Ten school. They beat up the MWC competition and then go 7-6 in a conference with 2 good teams and they think they are good?

Here's a quote from a post there: "Did his chances of winning a national or conference championship go down? Absolutely."

Umm... excuse me. but TCU isn't winning the Big 12. Not now. Not in the distant future. The fact that the clown even mentions a national title cracks me up.

TCU maniac:
I feel sorry for the kid. He was forced to make a tough decision, and unfortunately he chose loyalty to his brother rather than making a decision based on what was best for his personal future. Kind of ironic... It'll most likely end up being one of the worst decisions he's ever made

Mr hornedfrog:

I know I could look it up but what is his relationship with TCU? Legacy? As far as MN I'm not living anywhere you have to plug your car in to keep the oil warm. Too cold for me!!

hahaha...Some of those TCU fans are delusional.

I'm too lazy to look. How many championships do they have? (Ours may be a long time ago, but at least they're there). Last season, they were an average/below average Big XII team and we were an average/below average B1G team. Not seeing the championship difference.

One of them ripped Minnesota, saying, "Aren't they in the MAC?" No, partner. The Gophers play in the Big Ten and have for over a century. TCU has been on a nice run, but they're also in their 5th conference in 18 years.

They claim two (2):

1935 (Williamson System, which also awards a National Championship to LSU that same season.) But of course, the 1935 title rightly belongs to "The U".

1938 is their legitimate championship.

Hey...that's 2 more that the drunk skunks.

Hey, they won a Rose Bowl. We've had over 40 years and haven't been able to do that.

In fairness, a lot of people on the board seem level headed. A bunch of posters mocked the guy who talked about it being "the worst decision of his life" and the bit about not having to hear about him seemed to be more of a reference to him going out of conference than MN not getting exposure.

It makes sense to me, losing Will Johnson to West Virginia isn't as annoying as losing a kid to the skunks or Hawkeyes. We also have our posters who rip on kids and other schools when recruits go elsewhere. The majority of them just seemed annoyed to miss on a legacy recruit.

There were definitely some level headed posters for sure; the only ones I chuckled at were the ones saying that his chances of winning a national championship greatly diminished & the guy saying that he now will fail to become noticed....even when a guy decides on heading to Madison or Iowa City, I rarely see people here saying that they're about to head to a level of obscurity.

The other one was saying if Minnesota is in the MAC....that means your (meaning TCU poster guy) program just agreed to a home & home with a MAC team. Even us & Indiana get 2 for 1's.

While their were a few posts like this, most of the TCU fans were classy, rational, and respectful about the Mayes brothers. It's nice to read posts from level headed people!

@PuppyloveMayes: Everyone's asking me "Why Minnesota?" Just wait a year or two and you'll see why.

Is it just me or are we about to climb above Wisconsin and Iowa in the Big Ten (football wise). I'm feeling momentum turning our way with the existing team getting older and stronger and 3 solid recruits lined up for 2014.

I'd say we are equal if not slightly above Iowa, but unless we start winning the axe and more conference games we are not about to climb a team that has gone to 3 straight Rose Bowls (yes I know the last one should have never happened).

I am as optimistic as they come, but you don't become a B1G contender over night. So people need to stop expecting us to overtake Wisconsin any time soon. Win the Axe, defend it, then maybe we can talk about being on the same level as them. Until then, just enjoy the ride that Kill is giving us and be glad Brewster is in Nole Nation.

Can we win some games first? Momentum needs to occur on the field first before we leap frog anyone.

Iowa, Wiscy and now Froggy fans jumping overboard?! Wow. At least we are entertained, no? >.<

Maybe Connor can take over the role from Tommy later and return a few kicks?!

A great step this year is getting to a bowl game and winning it.

that is a funny read over there. That TCU board is worth some laughs. Thanks for the link.

Chris Hawkey on the fan said that Connor Mayes was part of the class of 2015. i thought it was 2014? DT and Gaardsie were there but did not correct him...2015?

I wouldn't deem Chris Hawkey a Gopher football recruiting oracle.

Go Gophers!!

yeah, thats what i thought. woulda been nice for fargo flash to have been there to correct hawkey.

Sometimes I think Fargo Flash knows less about the Gophers than Hawkey.

it does seem like FF comes in just to push some new Gen Mills product.
