Bowl Projections Megathread

Breaking: source tells The Advocate #LSU will play Iowa in the Outback Bowl bowl Jan 1 in Tampa.

From what i hearing and reading. Michigan going to the Buffalo Wild Wings bowl.

Also Texas AM will play Duke in Atlanta Georgia at Chick-fil-A Bowl. Georgia per sources to Gator bowl, so Michigan may not be heading to Buffalo Wild Wings bowl.

Our defenses are both ranked poorly, but A&M's offense is #9 while Iowa's is #74. We've put at least 41 points on the board in every single game, save the last two (where we stupidly played a QB with an injury and had horrible play calling, among numerous other mistakes). That includes putting 42 and 41 on Bama and Auburn, respectively. Iowa averages something like 27 points per game. If we can use the next month to figure out how to call actual plays, I think we have this game by 14-21 points.

Iowa has the #7 total defense in the country, #11 in scoring, and #11 against the pass. Kirk Ferentz is 3-1 in bowl games against the SEC, with wins over Spurrier and Saban and a loss to Urban Meyer. Bring it on, bitch.

Pitt accepts bid to Detroit to play Bowling Green.

Gonna be Gophers vs Syracuse.

Gophers vs. Syracuse? Ugh I hope not. We beat them last year and we improved and they regressed.

Syracuse vs minnesota could put the Houston bowl out of business.

Ugh. I didn't think I would hate a matchup more than a rematch with Texas Tech but if it ends up being Syracuse then I guess that wasn't the case. Would rather play TTU again.

Well that sucks... but at least we aren't going to Detroit to play BGSU.

Did I hear this correctly, Heart of Dallas rejected Syracuse and they (might) get pushed "down" to the TX bowl. If this is in fact true, it more than sucks.

ESPN stepped in and traded some bowl slots among the bowls it owns, and the Mountain West (UNLV) ended up in Dallas. I didn't see anything about Syracuse being an option for that game.

I hope the TX bowl is paying attention to this thread because if it is any indication of MN fan interest should we get paired with Syracuse, they'll be lucky to get 500 fans. And I'm talking 500 combined from both programs. This could be a real dog.

Would "Minnesota to Play Syracuse in Houston" quality for the famous Most Boring Headline Ever Contest?

Yes it would.

I recently lived in Houston. My wife and I have many friends down there. We went last year. No way am I spending north of a grand to watch the team play Syracuse in front of a tiny crowd in Houston. If I'm not going, and I have to be an ideal candidate to actually go to this game, then hardly anyone will attend.

I know no one in Jax and I'd spend a small fortune to see them play Georgia there.

Ugh....

Looks like the Iowa/Michigan talk will have to wait for another time... we may be back to playing Duke. Bleh. About as uninteresting to me as Syracuse is to you.

Yep. Reliant Stadium would be a ghost town.

I'm going no matter who the Gophers are playing. But my total travel distance is less than everyone else's wait through the TSA line at the airport.

Yeah, Duke doesn't sound like much fun unless you're talking basketball.

Looks like it's Syracuse. All the other likely options have been announced.

Thanks and I'll take your word. However, these articles would lead you to believe that Syracuse was an option for the Heart of Dallas Bowl and they passed on them.

I've just booked my hotel near the stadium (free cancellation in case something massively unexpected happens).

I know it is not what most fans want but Houston works out a lot cheaper from the UK than Florida and date is more convenient as I can go there and back but still be with the family for Christmas and New Year.

The matchup is perhaps less important for me than for you regular fans - I will go whoever. I think the likes of Hageman, Hill, Manuel and Verreen have been magnificent this year- massively excited about seeing them play their last game for the U.

I'll recompile my posts from last year's bowl game when the official announcement is made, but I would suggest booking away from the stadium unless you care about literally nothing else besides the game. The area around Reliant is a giant wasteland of parking lots, with not much in the way of dining, nightlife, or entertainment.

You might look into other areas of town where you can go out and have a good time before and after the game, and then just take the train in to the game (or park and tailgate).

It's easier to get back and forth to the game one time than it is to get back and forth from a Reliant-area hotel every single time you want to eat or do anything fun that weekend.
