BJ Omot to enter the transfer portal

Not surprising seeing as he wasn't at the end of the bench at the BTT. Sounds like he never bought in too much and he delayed his surgery. I would bet he transfers down a level.

Will be 4 teams in 4 years (assuming he doesn’t medically retire). And that’s not unusual. What a world.

That money spent on his scholarship/NIL/rev share by the U was money well spent /s

All the more reason to have stipulations on these NIL deals. Dude just collected a check for a whole year and did nothing.

They might have those (at least some places might). I agree that they (and we) should. We've had three recruits (Omot, Stephens, Cochran) in the last two years who didn't play a game for us and a fourth (Turner) who played a grand total of 40 minutes.

Granted it was my only Omot moment, it has to be the North Dakota Exhibition game where he looked extremely awkward and uncomfortable running.

Sorry I missed that one. That was my only chance to see him in a Gopher uniform. I did briefly see him in a CAL uniform in one of the four games he played for them last season.

My sister in law in Mankato knows the Omot family a bit. She says BJ is a good kid and comes from a hard working immigrant family. I don’t know all the details behind the scenes but I think sometimes these kids are getting bad advice from others around them. Too bad it didn’t work out here and hopefully he has better luck at the next stop.

The question is: Was this one of those I eat difficult conversations for breakfast kind of talks for Niko with Omot...or did Omot make it easy and walked away on his own accord? I'm guessing it frees up a money slot.

I have no inside info or know what went down at Cal (I.e. was be pushed out)? But if I’m an immigrant family from Mankato, MN, I’m pushing him real hard to stay at Cal and get a degree from a very prestigious university instead of bounding around and accumulating credits from 4 different schools that may or may not transfer to an actual degree.

What was the bad advice? Take the money and never look back? Rinse repeat

He got money from Cal and money from MN, not sure a bad decision in there. Unfortunate circumstances with all these injuries. Hopefully he gets money someone else and shines again next year
