BJ Omot to enter the transfer portal

If you are a Gopher fan...here's how this works...Omot transfers to St Thomas...he leads them to the NCAA Sweet 16 as their MVP.

There's an equally poor chance that he retires from basketball altogether and opens a highly success fruit business named Omot's Kumquats.

The question is: Was this one of those I eat difficult conversations for breakfast kind of talks for Niko with Omot...or did Omot make it easy and walked away on his own accord? I'm guessing it frees up a money slot.
Not difficult at all
Hey BJ, your NIL deal won't be renewed
BJ: I'll try to fool/screw another school via the portal

I’ve been seeing this sour grapes sentiment. Maybe I missed it…did BJ lie to our staff about his injury/recovery? Is he healthy but refusing to play?

I don't think that's necessarily the consensus. I saw him play in the exhibitions, and he didn't look "right." I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that something was ailing him or failed to heal properly. Seems like a great kid, and I'm sure he wanted to be out there.

I think it's more of a realization that you can't risk scarce funds on guys like BJ or other serially injured players.

Unless they are willing to take a HUGE pay cut, it almost has to be a "good luck elsewhere."

Agree with this. Can’t hand out scarce NIL $$ on the “hope” a guy is healthy enough to play. There we questions before the season can’t hold a spot

There's a chance BJ's injury is enough to keep him from playing at all. So, someone else will have to take a chance on him.
