For ADs in today's world, I think it's gotten really difficult to identify a coach in either basketball or football who a) has head coaching experience, b) has been involved in and had success in portal recruiting at a P5, ideally with average-ish NIL resources, c) has a winning track record, and d) is gettable financially. I think criterion b might be the smallest circle in the Venn diagram - you probably just have to take a chance based on their personality.
You may think Ben hasn't been successful here and - for a myriad of reasons that are and are not under his control - doesn't seem likely to turn the corner. I am in that camp. But, I'm not sure anyone could succeed at MN given the set of circumstances. Really the main thing that would make a difference in the trajectory, IMO, is an infusion of whale money for NIL.
