Our Wednesday night visitors from soggy Seattle dampened Nebraska’s senior day defeating the Huskers 83-62. Now, the Huskies hope to dampen Gopher senior night and their quest for an NCAA tournament bid. Fortunately, fewer of us remember the last meeting between Washington and Minnesota on March 18, 2006 in the NCAA first round. Not only did the Huskies prevail 73-69 in Nashville, but Gopher future hopes were also dampened by an exodes of key players in the following days.

If Minnesota is going to stay on the right side of the tournament bubble, they must deal with one of the Big Ten’s leading scorers, Elle Ladine. The 5’11” junior guard averages 19.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in 33.2 minutes. Ladine dropped 28 against the Huskers and 28 versus Rutgers warming up for Nebraska.

The second leading scorer is Sayvia Sellers. The 5’7” sophomore guard averages 15.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 32.1 minutes. Sellers scored 24 points against Southern Cal three games ago when Washington gave up a late 12 point lead to the Trojans.

If that’s not enough, there’s Dalayah Daniels. The 6’4” graduate forward averagesv14.2 points and 7.6 rebounds in 30.9 minutes. Daniels smoked Nebraska for 21 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals.

When rolling, Washington are believers in the extra pass and attacking off the rebound. It’s shaping up as a memorable night for more than just the seniors.

Washington is an oddity in this year’s BIG. As the league has gotten more defensive, Washington looks like a Lisa Bluder team, #1 in league play in offensive effective field goal percentage, while # 15 in defensive effective field goal percentage.

Senior night, last home game this season possibly. Big game, team should be feeling refreshed. Washington can really score, so defense has to be on point. Need to keep Mckinney out of foul trouble, need her on the floor. Go Gophers!

Hart misses so many baskets around the rim; however, her footwork and ball movement has improved so much this year. Excited to have her back for another year.

Soooooooo many open seats. Wonder what the attendance is tonight?

Tied at half after MN was up 12.
33-33. Washington runs some really good offensive plays to get shooters open.

Have a really strange feeling whoever wins this game will be in the NCAA tourney and the loser will be out.

Need to come out strong in the 3rd quarter. Go Gophs!

After building a 12 point lead, looked like the Gophers were playing tight, missed FT’s, layups and 6 TO’s second quarter. Let’s hope they got it out of their system

This team can go from looking good to really bad so fast. How quickly this game has turned. GG needs some help! Hopefully this doesn’t get out of hand but it’s not looking good. Let’s go!

Washington just has more offense then us. They have done a good job taking away Hart in which we have struggled with.

I thought it turned when Battle took over the point. Dribbling replaced ball movement, and the turnovers started to pile up.

I got a text from a friend that said the exact same thing.

Oof. I simply don't understand why we look so flat tonight of all nights.

Think we are locked into playing Washington in the B1G tournament also, oy!

I feel like we have to go all the way back to the Nebraska game since the gophers have looked this bad. Just not enough scorers on this team.
I’ll say it again this team desperately needs a point guard that can facilitate.

Wow...frustrating to watch. Unless we make another big comeback it seems to be another year stumbling down the stretch in the big 10. Be interesting to see, but I my bet would be we will now have to win @ MSU (is possible) to now make the dance. Losses at home to Michigan, Iowa, Oregon, and likely now Washington.

Yeah, with tonight's play it's hard to complain if they don't make the tourney. With a loss tonight they will have lost 8 of their last 12. To say they are limping into the B1G tournament is an understatement.

Then we'll have to live another year knowing that the greatest coach in Gopher WBB history, based on results, was Marlene Stollings, the coach of the only team in NCAA history to miss the Tournament with an AP First-Team All-American and who couldn't last more than two years on her subsequent job, since the Gophers haven't been to the Tournament/won a tournament game since her.

Yeah, if I’m on the committee I don’t see how they put them in. Wins against Illinois and Indiana is not going to do it. Hopefully will get some home games in the WBIT.
Going to really miss Stewart.

Yeah, at least we had a weaker non conference schedules to rack up big W's. Now know why. Unless we win @MSU, likely need to win a couple in the BTT. Ugh.
