Tough day for you today, I would imagine!

Your lack of objectivity toward all things Badgers (and Hawkeyes) has no shame. It's one thing to hate a rival. ... I get that, I really do. But you're burying your head in the sand if you don't think this is an extraordinary Badger team (one the Gophers handled convincingly without Andre Hollins, by the way), easily Bo's most dangerous in his tenure. Anyone who watched that game last night and didn't come away impressed by the Badgers either has no clue about basketball or has a serious lack of objectivity. I think you know basketball pretty well, so I think you're in Camp 2.

Arizona will be a much tougher task for Bucky, for sure. 'Zona's a much better squad than Baylor. Won't be surprised either way whoever wins the game.

Objectivity has nothing to with it. Yes I have total disdain for Becky ( not so much regarding Iowa ) Selection...Baylor
couldn't defend a simple pick and roll. Their off the ball defense was horrible. Plus, Baylor couldn't buy a basket in the first half, and they had good looks. ( 16 points ) In two games the Gophers put up 80 and 70 points against Wisconsin. If Wisconsin does that against Arizona I will give them a thumbs up. I played the game at JC level. Played
against Ollie Shannon twice when he was at Metro JC, and I can tell you flat out other than maybe Penn State everyone else in the B1G would've beat Baylor last night. Period. End of story

I'd love to see Wisconsin lose, but now that they're this close there's a little part of me that would love to see 3 out of the final four come from the Big Ten.

Fair enough.

I always pick Sconnie to make a decent run in the tournament just to hedge my bets. If they succeed, I get a good amount of points in my bracket pool. If they lose, I'm happy anyway.

I have them in the elite 8 in all my brackets. They'd better not keep winning...

Whoever did the scouting for Baylor against Wisconsin:drink: didn't do a very good job. You beat Wisconsin by making them chuck up 25 three point shots. Double on Kaminski and and seal off the corner three. The easiest of 3 pont shots. Make Frank kick it out to the wings. Don't give Dekker the baseline and force him to shoot the 3. If you have watched Wisconsin as much as we all have, when the ball is kicked out to the wing most often than not the restart the offense. The advantage Wisconsin has is not that many teams play the Swing Offense. The B1G defends it better
because we've seen it year in and year out under Bo. They've a better collection of shooters this year and that is why
they've been so successfull. I would guess their APPG is much higher over previous years. If you noticed last night,
Wisconsin had a lot of uncontested 3's with no hand in the face. Hell...SelectionSunday would've drained a couple!

I was more the Doug Gottlieb type, Ruppert.

Short white guy, loved to penetrate & kick, but couldn't shoot a lick. There was a reason I was always open outside of 10 feet.

Baylor played terrible last night. Wisconsin deserves some credit, but Baylor constantly missed open shots and didn't rotate well on D. And for the love of god, when are players going to stop falling for Brust's pump fake? I guess since his career is almost over it's irrelevant now. He's a senior and Gopher players still fell for it when we played them in the BTT. 2 or 3 times last night Baylor players would fly by him only to leave him wide open. Close out under control and at least make him shoot over you.

I'm a fan of Wisconsin on this run.
The more the Big Ten fills the final four, the more consideration this league gets next year at tournament time and the less automatic the ACC bias plays into effect.

Regarding the ridiculous Burger King analogy, that's simply ridiculous.
We gain from the Big Ten doing well in the tournament via revenue sharing and publicity for the conference which has continuously drawn the ire of the 4 letter network.

To have flyover country teams like Wisconsin, MSU, and Michigan beat darlings from Texas, Arizona, and the ACC / Big East is all good news. It also would indirectly help the Big Ten Network which is becoming more and more powerful since they have the rights to the games for the best conference for basketball the last couple years.

One of the Big Ten teams need to win it this year, because that's the drought the TV networks are sticking with right now.

One more absurdity.... calling out Bo Ryan for only beating a higher seed maybe once or twice.... when you come in as a high seed, you play more games against lower seeds.
(3 seed plays, 14, then 3 seed plays a 6 or an 11) They need to win two games before they even play a higher seed.
Just because we're used to playing a higher seed in round one or round two doesn't give us the ability to criticize Bo Ryan about never beating a higher seed when he'll probably be favored to do so tomorrow night anyway.

Good stuff Facts. Especially agree about the Big Ten's need to win it all. Need to get that done.

I would root for the Badgers if I found out that my wife had picked them in the $1 billion dollar bracket challenge and only needed that game to win the challenge. It would also be essential that she make a major contribution to the Gopher facilities upgrade (i.e. the entire $190 million) and that the opponent is Iowa, tOSU, or SCUM.

If Ohio State had made one more stop against Dayton (or hadn't made any number of foolish mental mistakes, like Craft's intentional foul), the B1G might be sitting here with 4 teams playing to reach the Final Four. Dayton is hot, but they also got a nice path with a collapsing Syracuse team and then a decent but beatable Stanford team.

No way in heck would I actually cheer for Wisconsin, but the added benefit to the conference *somewhat* softens the blow if they win. I will say this, though, I would never, ever cheer for them in the championship game even if it means the B1G's "drought" continues.

I know this is like beating my head against the cement floor, but I can't help chiming in here. Here are a couple of posts from neutral observers about Bo and this team.

Article in the Denver Post about Bo link

And I have Fla, AZ, Mich St and L'vill......with Fla over AZ.

I still think the champ game will be Fla vs Mich St.

I'll bet my $2000 to your $200 that that is not the championship game matchup.

It's hard for me to cheer for Becky. But this team is different. They don't just slow things down to a pace that is boring this year. This team is much more fun to watch and for that I'll be cheering for a huge win against Az. Yes it's good for the Big Ten. Especially when many of us thought the conference was 'down' this year.

How many did Ollie get?

Both times it was in the 30 ' s If I remember right. Metro ran him both as forward and guard. The guy could jump
out of the buliding. He held the old league record with 70 points in one game.

Wisconsin has a legit chance at winning it all, so to all those in the "I Support Wisconsin Because I Support the Big Ten" camp, if the thought of Bo Ryan smirking while holding the national championship trophy doesn't make you want to puke, you're not trying hard enough.

Wow what a bs call on the offensive foul against Arizona at the end.

Well?????? Wisconsin is in the Final Four....why haven't any 4 or 5 star recruits committed to Minnesota in the past 10 minutes?

That was really the first and only call they got all night. If you look at the ledger (and ask Charles Barkley who never likes the Big Ten) Arizona got a lot of bogus calls throughout the game.
And regarding the push-off, I'm glad the refs aren't swallowing their whistles when it's under 10 seconds when there is an infraction like that.

Nice win for Wisconsin tonight. Go Michigan and MSU tomorrow!

Kentucky will be tough.

Wow, if michigan takes care of business tomorrow ( a big if the way Kentucky is playing) whiskers could easily make it to the final game. I don't see them beating Mich State but they have before. (shudder) whiskers as national champs is beyond nauseating

Ha! So you don't think the flailing elbow/hook of Hayes wasn't something Wisconsin was getting away with all night? He could have been called for it three or four times in the first half alone. One was painfully obvious. I thought each team got their share of the calls.

As for the Gasser call, I don't have a problem with them calling something there. It just looked like Gasser fouled him first before the arm got extended.

The refereeing is horrible in all these games. They are not even consistently bad. Brutal. Having said that, I think Wisconsin got less calls overall but I was rooting for the Big Ten too. I did say out loud that was wrong too many times when Arizona got screwed often too. Just lousy basketball refs. Hard job, yes. But these guys make it harder with the calls they make and don't make.
