Anything positive you can think of?

Gopherhole's own Nadine Babu was impressed the family members of the players were cheering for them. thats such a low bar to have your own parents cheering as a positive. but she is the head honcho around here so maybe its a big deal?

Better effort. Garcia looked like the real deal.

Payne again. He looks to be by far the best addition of this freshman class. Practice your free throw though young man!!!

Team is still figuring out how to play together. Feels like we are seeing the struggles this year that we all expected to see early last year but didn't because that team gelled so quickly.

Best Garcia has looked all year and you can see some definite talent in the freshman even though it is raw.

Team absolutely needs Battle and Garcia to both be on against good teams to have any chance. Hopefully Battle can rediscover his game from last year as he works back from injury.

Am I the only one struggling to see what Carrington will ever bring to the table? He is a worse version of Gabe. He was that even in high school

It can get pretty ugly between parents and coaches when it's not going well. Hump's dad use to go down the lockeroom and yell at the team at half time for example, Monson should ahve been fired on the spot for allowing that

If Payne masters free throws and develops a short jumper, look out.
This is what made Oturu so dangerous. Aside from a variety of post moves, his 15 ft jumper was deadly so teams couldn't crowd the paint on him. Man I miss Oturu.... lol

This impressed me when I was in Jr. High too. Thankfully the crowd at the Barn is still too large to fit in a row of metal chairs around the school cafeteria/gym. For now.

Don't understand the Carrington hate. Austin Hollins was a very similar player his Freshman year as well.

I agree. In a better/more balanced roster without injuries, the three or four scholarships currently occupied by injured players, walk-ons, or unused would be occupied by players with more experience. In that situation you wouldn't see much of Carrington, Henley, or Ola-Joseph this year and they would be allowed to develop without seeing the court much. I guess it is a positive and a negative to have them all playing this much early on in their careers. But it is unfair to expect a finished product from any of them this early on.

It’s not hate at all. Austin was a lot longer, better defender, & more athletic. I thought Carrington shot would be better tbh

I don't see "hate" for him. We just desperately need his 3's to start going in.
He shoots to many of them early in the shot clock also. This kind of stuff should get better as he develops, but those quick shots aren't good, especially when not many are going in.

It wasn't yur post as much as some from the Michigan game. But Austin was pretty similar as a Freshman and they're about the same build, though Hollins had a bit better of a wingspan as he had longer arms than Carrington, but Hollins also hung around the perimeter quite a bit, but his game grew as he put on more muscle, got older became more confident. I think Carrington will too, he has a high IQ for the game like Austin, just needs his shot to fall. He's light years ahead of JOJ and Henley on defense, but I get it JOJ goes hard on offense and that's easier for the casual fan to notice

That’s amazing!

He is light years as far as help defense JOJ is better as far as versatility of who he can guard on ball. Henley still has a ways to go on both but I think he will get better with time. I was just hoping Carrington could shoot at least 36% from 3

JOJ definitely more versitile or has the potential to be, but he's lost on that side of the bowl and has even greater fouling issues than Payne. As far as Carrington's shooting me too, hopefully he has a stretch where he's hitting that number. Think Dupree was like 2 for his first 30 and shot around 40% from January on his freshman year, maybe Carrington will have a similar turn around, but he's also not as bad from three as Dupree was either

I can't say this for sure, but he must have coach's approval to shoot at will when open. He's getting good minutes and not getting yanked...which is partly his defense and rebounding, but he's probably working within the flow of the offense and following instructions, too. If true, Ben must be going on his track record and practice performance. Someone in some other thread said it: he probably just needs to expand his range from the high school arc. He has good form. Long term, I think he'll be fine.

Ten games into his freshman year and you are struggling to see if he will EVER contribute/bring something to the table? Honestly? Ever? And this is coming off a 10 rebound game. It helps to have just a little perspective.

Really looking forward to the next 3 games against easier opponents. Should really allow them to work out some kinks and build confidence before conference play resumes. I am looking forward to beating Badgers come the start of January, it will literally be our final four this year : )

I watched him in high school & shooting was the only thing I thought he would bring

He had 10 rebounds yesterday.
Agree, Carrington is way more physical than Kalschuer ever was, he is starting to get his shooting stroke, he is going to be a big contributor down the line.

I don't have any concerns with Carrington, I think the shot will come and he does a lot of other things decent (decent +). He plays hard, he can handle the ball a bit, he plays hard on defense, etc.
